Why do people karate chop their cushions and pillows?

Why do people think its posh?
What am I missing?? I much prefer to just see a lovely plumped cushion?!

Actually I don’t need to know, I only have them on the sofas and they live nice and tidily arranged unless they are being used for sitting with. Then they just go back neatly.

Who does this? I don't. Nor do I know anyone who does.

Kathleen turner did it in 1989 in “The War of the Roses”. That scene has always stayed with me.
