Working out in cul-de-sac?

Guy takes his weights into middle of culdesac most evenings and does a full work out with mats and barbells etc.

I've had to put music on as its hot and both my bedroom windows are open and I can hear him panting and straining.

It's just fucking weird isn't it? He's got a back garden!

id probably be annoyed at this too. I find my neighbour generally annoying, maybe because I’m jealous that he’s twice my age and does not sit still. Forever in the driveway or garage fixing something. Meanwhile I sit on the sofa with my snacks..
most irritating is when he uses the weighted work out balls. He THROWS it full force in the garage it the noise just booms right across the street… 🙄

I think what he’s doing is great!
I would love to see more people exercising outdoors father than sitting inside.
Why is it weird? Just because he doesn’t fit in with societal norms? Good on him.

I don't think anyone would dispute getting out and doing exercise is a bad thing.
I think most comments are that
A) he is blocking a road
B) everyone else around hom has to listen to his huffing etc most nights of hhe week.

Totally no consideration for those who live around him!

He moves if required, and it is clearly not often, as otherwise it would be pointless to work out out there. Also it’s a cul de sac, so people can go the other way round, if he’s directly outside his own house, which it seems it is, then I can’t really see how any one else is impacted.

I don't believe that he doesn't have a flat surface in his house, drive, garden, garage etc such that he needs to perform his gym routine for the entire neighbourhood. This would annoy the hell out of me. How long does the show last for?

midgetastic · 21/05/2024 07:59

Wouldn't bother me !

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 21/05/2024 08:07

Ask to join him and get a neighbourhood fitness routine going. Could be great for neighbour relations.

Much better than pointlessly getting in your car to repeatedly make him move, that's just so petty.

By definition of cul-de-sac there isn't another way round.

You need to sit outside with paddle boards and give scores Strictly Come Dancing style.

LittleMonks11 · 21/05/2024 08:54

Is he trying to impress somebody?

yodog · 21/05/2024 08:56

Wouldn't bother me at all.

You don need to watch, you can get on with your own stuff. Curtain twitching is not mandatory.

If you can't put your weights down quietly, they're too heavy for you. What an attention seeking idiot. Is there really no room in his house? I live in a tiny house and manage to find room for my workouts.
