I am currently suffering with eczema on my face, mainly around the creases either side of my mouth, but also tiny patches to the sides of my eyes. In the past I've only really suffered with stress eczema (years ago) but after going through a really awful and stressful time over the past year or so, it flared up badly on the back of my neck and although the stress has lessened recently, I still get the back of the neck flare ups but also now on my face, which I am more bothered by as it's so visible. It gets really dry and flakey and can be quite red too.

I've been trying La Roche Posay Cicaplast balm, on a recommendation from a friend. It doesn't seem to be helping much though. I know you're not supposed to use hydrocortisone on your face but I have resorted to using it very thinly every so often as it's the only thing that seems to help. But I don't want to keep doing this, and I wondered - does anyone have any top tips for facial eczema please? I'd love to find something natural that helps to soothe the redness and combat the dry flaking skin. It's making me feel so ugly at the moment.

If you’re trying new things, I would recommend just trying it on a small area and waiting 24hours to check you’re not having a reaction to it

Lots of advice on here already, but take a look at wild crafted repair balm by thunderbird skincare. It’s all natural and has quite a few amazing reviews from people with eczema.

I started using it for dry skin & rosacea last week and it’s already working well!

Epaderm ointment when you have eczema, as many times a day as possible ( don’t let it dry out) and the the epaderm cream when it is gone twice a day to prevent another break out. Don’t put anything else on your face. Avoid washing with water in the shower/bath until it’s healed. Sometimes skin can prefer one emollient over another so it may take a bit of trial and error. Defo see the GP, ask for their GP with a skin interest.

See a different doc.

Also is your room dusty? Thorough dusting?

I had awful eczema over my body and face - the worst thing I did was moisturise, my skin was red and inflamed from eczema but I was also feeding a skin infection, that was causing more intense itch and discomfort. I stopped moisturising and left my skin to breathe, it was painful, dry, cracked and sore to begin with but it healed. It's called No Moisture Treatment and has worked for loads of people - usually after they have exhausted every other remedy. Good luck with finding something that works. But try not to follow advice to put moisturiser on all the time - your skin will scream at you.

@snapdragongirl , Protopic was the only thing which fixed my facial eczema. See your GP.

There's good advice here eczema.org/information-and-advice/types-of-eczema/facial-eczema/

Pretoria, as other posters have said. Don’t use steroid cream on your face, especially around your eyes. It is linked to glaucoma.

AlderGirl · 14/10/2024 21:25

Protopic, not Pretoria. Bloody predictive text 😖

Putthekettleon73 · 14/10/2024 21:48

Body shop hemp cream is my miracle eczema healing cream!

I would also take b vits though as in corners or your mouth is indicative if that. If it's wet or crusty in corners of your mouth you may need an antifungal steroid cream.

Sorry the doctor fobbed you off. Some doctors just don't get it.

Had many years of eczema on face, found Bobbi Brown makeup the only makeup that doesn't give me a reaction. It's not the cheapest option, but in the days when I had to panstick over red crusty blotches every day, the foundation stick was invaluable.
