To think this is a safeguarding concern?

A mum joking that her 7 year old daughter “will probably just end up a prostitute”.

The comment is vile.

Alone it wouldn't scream safeguarding.

But in the context she is HE and admitting she doesn't have the ability to teach her DD well I have concerns. Is she depriving her of an education which will help her meet her full potential and rather than seeking that option just writing her off?

Because that's a concern.

It's not too late to report this as a concern to SS. The child is very isolated and needs someone to check in on her. It sounds so damaging.

I think social services have enough on their plates without having to investigate every poor taste joke from a probably stressed out parents

I have a dark sense of humour and even o wouldn't say this.

And if it did fall out of my mouth, I'd be quickly trying to put it back in.

On its own not a safeguarding concern but a red flag.

She needs to send her daughter to school. If her daughter's contact with adults is limited to women like that then she's really in trouble.

And I do think it's a safeguarding concern. I think the NSPCC would be interested.
