Hi all,

I've posted about this before so I'm gonna keep it short but I went for a job interview three weeks ago on a Wednesday and they said they'd let me know a decision by Friday, Friday came and I thought I was unsuccessful as I hadn't heard a reply so I called to thank them for the opportunity and ask for feedback on the interview as I thought it went well.

The hiring manager wasn't available but they got back to me on Tuesday and said they had more interviews this week and would let me know next week so the following Thursday I asked for an update and they said they had to delay interviews until the week after and would let me know either way.

I asked one more time the week after as I was meant to be going on holiday and didn't want to be thinking about it whilst I was away and was worried about them not being able to get hold of me but was told interviews were delayed and it'd be another week which I wasn't going to ask them again because I thought I asked too much and they would either get back to me or they wouldn't. I just wanted to be put out of my misery really of not knowing but again they said interview were delayed into next week and they'd let me know either way.

But then a couple of days later out of the blue they've asked me to attend a second interview.

It wasn't mentioned in the initial interview or at any other point during the process about a second interview and it's a job I really do want so I'm
pleased but I don't really know what to expect,

Do I just prepare for it as if it was a first interview?

Thanks

Hi yes although it’s likely they will ask you different questions than on the first interview. Sounds like they are asking you in to help make a final decision.

Thank you, I'm just not sure what I should prepare for really and after waiting three weeks I don't want to blow it.

I guess I can only prepare as much as I can and see what happens.

Have they said you need to prepare anything? I've had to prepare presentations, write something/edit something, but I've always been given an idea of what would be required before the interview. If they haven't said anything, just revise what you know about the company/the role or prepare some examples for competency based questions.

No they haven't said to prepare anything.

On Tuesday they said they had more interviews next week and would keep me updated and then on Friday they messaged me and asked if I was free on Monday for a second interview.

I'll prepare for the company/role and questions, thank you.

Second interview is great news. It means they've selected you from a much larger pool. In most firms second interview would then be a definite offer if successful. You obviously impressed the first time round. I'm presuming there isn't a test or anything you need to prepare for. You can ask the structure of the interview as it may be a group, work trial etc? You may be meeting the wider team or the boss/ CEO so I'd say be confident, and prepare any pertinent questions.
They clearly like you. Good luck. Hope you get it. If not you came close which means you're getting nearer to your ideal job.
