Get DS a new bed or not?

DS Just turned 13.

He got this bed in Feb 2021 as he shared a room with his brother and this was the best way for him to have desk space.

Last year we moved house and brought the bed with us. He has his own room now.

His brother recently upgraded his PC set up and gave DS2 his old desk.

So DS2 now has a desk set up in the corner of his room.

DS2 has asked for a normal bed.

He said he doesn't like climbing up to go to bed anymore.
That he doesn't need the underbed desk and he would just prefer a normal bed so when his friends come round they can sit on it like a couch.

DH says there's nothing wrong with the bed (True, apart from it being a bit duffed up from being a white bed and having been reassembled)

I think we should get him a normal bed

It would be much easier for me changing the sheets too.

But DH said we spent almost £600 on it a few years ago and he should keep it as resale is poor on them and it's not in pristine condition to sell so would probably end up being given away or tipped.

I've just found a wooden frame, double listed on FB locally for free. So if I can get that I can spend the bed money on a double mattress.

The bed can be donated and his sister can have the newer single mattress.

What a palaver 😂

Ds went into a double straight from his cot bed. Means we'll only ever need to replace the mattress

I'd get a double now to avoid this same debate in a few years. Kids stay at home longer these days in lots of cases
