To be very specific about what I want in terms of a 7-10 day holiday?

I need your help o wise ones! I want to book a holiday for the end of June or July (for a family with a 15 year old, a 14 year old and 10 year old twins- all girls). We currently live in the US and will be visiting the UK so no problems with missing school.

Some kind of holiday park or complex would be great. We would like some kind of entertainment in the day for the younger one (eg organised or non organised eg a pool) . Not Butlins or Haven. Would prefer a lodge rather than a caravan but open to being flexible. Have looked at Hoseaaons and Parkdene (and PGL). Would prefer not fo have to have a car, but can be flexible about that too - and would like somewhere near a beach if possible. In the north (above Birmingham) is a must .

Any ideas please?

Not having a car is going to make things difficult for you - most lodge parks are not easy to get to and from on public transport.

just a preference… we’d consider hiring one for the right park

Whinfell Centre Parcs?
An hour's drive from Whitehaven for the beach but you've got all the activities and lake sports within Centre Parcs itself too.

Agree unfortunately for lodge type holidays you'd most likely need a car.

If you can flex on being in the south, halfuryn finlake, chudleigh knighton Devon is outstanding and ticks all your boxes

budget??!

Bluestone in Pembrokeshire is great and close to fantastic beaches. Has a great pool and lots of activities. Not north of Birmingham though and you would need a car.

Landolover · 17/05/2024 08:46

Thank you … will have a look at some of these. 2k is the budget but would prefer closer to 1.

Is this a holiday or are you scoping places to move to?

Landolover · 17/05/2024 08:55

Holiday .

Can recommend Kenwick lodges, Louth - would need a car though.
Also look at Searles in Hunstanton - lodges and facilities and handy for trips to places like Wells Next the Sea.

Are you spending time travelling around UK / Europe and this is just part of it, or seeing family whilst you are here?
Otherwise it seems a long way & expensive to come to the UK and stay on a (could be anywhere) holiday park in a country with unpredictable summer weather.

Landolover · 17/05/2024 09:40

This is just part of it… a time for ‘us’. Thanks again for the suggestions… about to explore your ideas now .

Whitecross Bay in the Lake District - it's not a beach but it's right on the shores of Lake Windermere. You could probably get away without a car by taking the train to Windermere and there used to be a bus service along the road it's off between Windermere and Ambleside. It's £2k for 10 days though.

MiddleAgedDread · 17/05/2024 09:55

The Parkdean site at Whitley Bay has a beach at the end of the road and is on the bus route into Newcastle and northwards into Northumberland for exploring. It doesn't have lodges though so you'd need a large caravan but it's half the price of Whitecross Bay! The site itself was nothing special but the surrounding area is nice and you can walk down to Whitley Bay along the promenade and there's proper seaside attractions such as amusement arcades, massive ice cream shops and fish & chips.

I haven’t been to Whitley Bay in years! Great suggestions everyone - thanks so much.
