To be worried about hemoroid operation

My hemoroids have been causing me a lot of pain lately. I think I need an operation. Has anyone had them and how did it go? What was the recovery like?
Private or NHS? Wait time for NHS?
Thank you. X

I had mine in Feb and honestly, brutally honestly, it is agony for longer than you expect it to be (and I was warned by my surgeon) BUT now I'm finally almost healed I'm really glad I had it done and they were ruling my life.

I had an open hemmerhoidectomy done privately. The 2 weeks off work on the NHS website is utter rubbish - I was off 4 and needed every day of them and I don't have a physically demanding job.

If you do get it done get a sitz bath, a peri spray bottle or a shower hose, expect to have at least 2 weeks of not looking after kids (mine are 2 and 4, I couldn't pick the 2 yo up and I couldn't have done the school run during that time), make sure you've made plenty of soups or have a soup maker and get yourself some massive pants and maternity pads at the ready...and leave your dignity at the door 😂

I'm an open book so feel free to ask any Qs.

My husband had his banded last summer and was fine to work the next day, albeit sitting at a desk and taking paracetamol for the discomfort. I think he waited about 6 months.

Has anyone looked at yours before? Do you know what type of procedure you might need?

Ivr had a private heamarroidectomy which cost me £500 but was worth it. The procedure was painless as they numb the area, I was driving the next day. Sitz bath is a must and good hygiene.
