I paid for a session, but no-one else is here bar maybe 2-3 kids at any time. So we're not blocking it... DD4 is playing happily.
No-one has asked me to leave, there's no wristbands etc. have also bought 2 coffees for me, and a milkshake for DD.

AIBU to have paid for a 45 minutes session, but stay longer?

I have a membership so I can stay as long as I like as long as it's not full of people waiting in the queue to come in.

Sounds like the place is happy for you to stay. Perhaps they only enforce the time period during busy periods. Like you say, you've purchased things from the café too. Enjoy the peace and quiet while the children play!

It's bliss, I read a book mostly!

As it's not busy they are probably happy that you are in there buying their coffees. If it was an issue they would have asked you to leave.

100 percent fine. Obviously leave if it was busy and you were stopping another child having their 45 minutes

Our local soft play is pay to enter and stay as long as you like! NBU

MarshmallowsOnToast · 16/05/2024 18:40

I do this all the time. Not BU.

As long as it's not busy, your kids aren't being terrors and you've not brought your own full on picnic. I think you're good!

YANBU

The time limit is only enforced when it's busy. It's in no-ones best interests to kick you out after 45 minutes when it's quiet.

You will likely encourage other customers as many kids like someone to play with/alongside. If it was near empty then parents may avoid that time again. Not full, not empty is good imo.

I don't think yabu.

When I was young, people were given coloured bands when they went into the swimming pool. When it was time to come out, they would blow a whistle and walk around carrying the appropriate coloured band.

If it was quiet, they never bothered. You could stay in as long as you wanted.

This feels a bit like that. It hasn't cost them anything extra and they've had revenue from drinks they wouldn't otherwise have had.
