To think people jumping the airport security queue should pay for fast track or wait like everyone else?

Last week I had to get 2 coaches to the airport during the train strike and as a result, was worried about making my flight in time due to the coach being delayed by almost 2 hours.

Joined the security queue and it was moving slower than I thought. Regretted not paying for fast track. But during the time I was waiting, people jumped the queue on three separate occasions by saying things like ‘Sorry, I need to go to the front because my plane leaves in 10 minutes (or some other weak excuse). Everyone let them through (they didn’t ask me because they were cutting through the people further ahead.)

I was quietly annoyed about this because I was so tight on time and didn’t want people (one of which was a family of 5) delaying me. AIBU to think they should have paid for fast track rather than ask to jump in front of everyone else who was waiting patiently for 25 minutes? I find it so entitled because realistically they knew that people would be too polite to refuse.

Has anyone ever seen anyone actually say no when this happens?

I once turned up at the airport for an early morning flight to be told it had been cancelled and I was given a flight mid afternoon. That was no good for me as I was taking a mid afternoon ferry. I noticed that another company was doing a flight to my destination in just over 30 minutes.

I raced to their desk, they had a seat and guaranteed I'd get on it. They escorted me through security and straight into the plane.

None of this was my doing, but yes, I jumped the queue. And if accept the same help again.

Sometimes security have directed people to skip the queue. I have in the past been sent to the front, in my case I was only late because the purple parking bus broke down and it was an hour before we got to the airport.

I normal don't give a fuck as DH makes us turn up about 4 hours before we need to do might as well be in a queue as sitting on an uncomfortable chair.

If they are genuine and need to get to the plane as they are late then I do not mind. It has happened to me a couple of times, I asked the staff first and apologised. I left on time but transportation went wrong. One time a guy yelled at me for doing it and I burst in to tears as I had been through so much to get there.

Idk if ppl are lying but I do know it is certainly possible for an accident on the motorway or your hire car breaking down or something else to happen to someone.

Doubt there was luggage, checking in luggage is often a luxury these days for short haul.

Not necessarily. With easy jet I got hold luggage included but had to pay for cabin baggage - so my cabin baggage sized bag went in the hold. This was Bristol - Inverness.
