Does DD need to see a doctor?

My MIL thinks that DD8 needs to see a doctor because she is a fussy eater. I'm not sure. She's definitely a bit limited but I don't think it's really bad and she does make an effort to try new things. This is what she will eat:

Carbs are fine - bread, pasta, rice, couscous, potatoes
Lentils
Processed veggie food like soy nuggets etc
Cheese
Milk and butter, yoghurt
Peanuts, cashew nuts etc
Eggs
Fruit - apple, banana, strawberries, melon
Veg - carrots, spinach, squash, cucumber, tomatoes, olives
And of course chocolate and sweets

No spice or anything. She likes quite bland food.

She's been vegetarian for a couple of years.

Obviously it's not a massive list of foods and I'd like it to be much longer, but AIBU to think that she doesn't need the doctor?

That all sounds good - the one thing to be aware of is a potential lack of iron - my DD would eat veggies but not meat when younger and became anaemic for a bit, which made her tired and irritable. Was dealt with easily via supplements.

I have a very fussy eater who eats a lot less than that and his nutritional bloods were all fine showing he got sufficient nutrients off way less options. And your DD will try new things whereas my DS is clearly really anxious about different foods. So I don't really think there is anything to worry about or that the doctor would do and any advice would just be to continue what you are doing in terms of cycling round the things she will eat and introducing new foods without any pressure

And despite no meat eaten by mine his iron levels were actually fine but if you are worried the tasteless spatone iron supplements are great

What exactly does she expect the Dr to do??

I doubt taking her to the GP would achieve anything.
It would probably be evident to you if she had sensory issues around food.
And the GP will probably be pleased that your daughter is eating from all the different food groups.
I had a friend growing up who would only eat cheese sandwiches. Had to be a specific brand of bread and cheese. Doctor said he's healthy, no issues, nothing for them to do. Don't know if he grew up to eat better but there was no intervention deemed necessary from a medical perspective.
A cousin eats only fish paste on bread and chips. Basically the same conversation with a doctor, try to encourage veg etc but nothing that a GP can do/offer/suggest.
A friend of a friend eats only bread, literally only bread and is a fully functioning adult, owns a house, has a job, married, has a dog and a kid. Perfectly healthy and happy. Takes a vitamin & supplements, which the GP might recommend if your daughters diet was this limited.

I don't think your DD's eating habits are the problem here - maybe your MIL needs to visit the GP to get her interferingitis checked......

Yep!
There was a very moving documentary about a young woman who died from anorexia. They interviewed her mum and asked what advice she’d give to parents. She said “never make food an issue”. Your MIL is trying to make food an issue. This would start your DD thinking that food is some problem thing.
You’re doing the right thing. DD is eating healthy food in enough quantities to keep her healthy. You’re not trying to force her to eat things she doesn’t want, or making her think she’s abnormal. Most likely her tastes will broaden as she gets older - this is what happens with most kids.

Wow I would love my child to have your diet hes autistic and has a diet of beige food

Nuggets

Chicken fridge raiders
Burnt toast
Noodles

He's healthy has blood test and weight checks often.

Apparently I grew up on marmite Sarnies wouldn't eat nothing else lol I'm now a big foodie xx
