Hi all, posting for traffic.
I'm a teaching assistant currently at university studying an undergraduate degree in primary education. My goal was to become a teacher but I'm being more and more put off the job the longer I work in schools. I love working with children and helping them, it is so fulfilling and I hope I've had a positive impact on some of the children's lives already.
I will have my degree in September 2025 and was wondering if I could go into some sort of guidance counsellor/student wellbeing role? I want to work with children to develop their social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing which I love. What other similar jobs can I do?

High schools have student welfare roles. But don’t need a degree.

There are some roles like head of year and deputy head that do have similar roles, involved in agencies etc.

Why not see a career advisor at Uni?

I’ve worked in schools and wouldn’t go back!
