I'm in my late twenties, decided to go for a team lead role totally not expecting to get it. Out of all the other (more experienced men) interviewed, they choose me!
The role is 50% technical 50% leadership. I suspect that I was chosen because of my skills in the latter, I have had to step up and lead a team since a couple of people in my team left. I think quite strategically, am more commercially minded and see the big picture in managing stakeholders, compared to the more 'technically minded' people. I'm also a strong candidate technically, although not as experienced as the others. It was an internal role and I know the others who applied, hence my saying this!
Help me wise women of MN, share your tips and experience. I was terrified, in fact I didn't want to accept the role, but it's a lot more money. My husband, in typical male fashion, told me I'd be stupid not to accept it (thanks DH!) so I did. I'm like a duck.. all calm on the surface but madly paddling underneath... help me feel less anxious by sharing your experiences please?

Fake it till you make it? Brave face on, believe in yourself , they believed in you to offer you the job. Draw on you team leading experience and don’t be afraid to ask for advice on the technical stuff.
