CMPA/Reflux Baby and Solids

Hello,

My DD who is 5.5 months old has recently started solids. I made this decision due to CMPA and her reflux being terrible. Her dietician appointment isn't until she's actually 7 months old so therefore I couldn't speak to the dietician about it. The Health Visitor did say that we may need to explore weaning her early if needed due to her reflux, however I've moved and haven't been allocated a new HV yet.

I've recently started my DD on some solids and I feel as though she's taking to it well. Her mood is a lot better (I think despite being on Neocate she was in discomfort due to the reflux). She's also started having more restful sleep as she'd always be in light sleep and squirm a lot.

My concern is that she has been drinking a less milk than usual. Not anything too alarming but still less and I've read everywhere that milk should be her main source of nutrition. However, I feel as though she's taking to solids better.

Anyone else's CMPA babies get on better with solids? How much/how often did you feed them solids and how did they get on?

Mine has now 13 allergies, originally started as CMPA. She's now two and still on neocate syneo, emwhenever she has an allergic reaction her formula is her comfortable safe place where we know it's more gentle on her tummy. We weaned early due to advice from consultant at 5 months. We had a lot of set backs as we figured out the new foods and trying each food one at a time for 3 days minimum to make sure it was okay. My little one just loved her milk, so she didn't drop the amounts. However I've heard other mum's often say that once on solids the milk did drop as they were eating well. If your little one is eating a good amount and not just a nibble (like mine was), keeps gaining weight and having enough fluids/wet nappies then I wouldn't be concerned.

@BookArt thank you for sharing your experience. Does she have any fruit allergies?

My dd is allergic to some fruits. She's also allergic to dairy and had silent reflux, we were advised to wean at 16 weeks.

Im sure DS' reflux got better at 6 mo when he started weaning. I was advised 3 proper baby meals (as opposed to BLW) as the dr felt the reflux was causing him to be severely underweight.

He's 6 now and still very very skinny so i think he would have probably been fine to BLW as clearly his weight is the one he is supposed to be.

Thanks everyone.

I'm feeling quite anxious today as she's really cutting down on her milk. The maximum she ever drinks is 5oz. She's never had more than that at a time. However, she's started drinking less. But I've noticed she's so much more happier. She's smiling and babbling away. She's even having longer stretches at night (which isn't the reason I started weaning her - it's a bonus though I guess!).

I've got a HV appointment booked in for her for tomorrow. It's really daunting weaning a CMPA baby without the dietician's input as I'm not sure if it's okay that she's drinking less milk as long as she's enjoying her food. Or if I'm doing something wrong?

I feel anxious as I don't want her to drop on the centiles

Sorry for late reply. Yes she is allergic to banana, pineapple, and was allergic to apple but has thankfully grown out of that one. Tested negative for it on skin orick and bloods and we then had to give her a little bit every day for a month.
