AIBU Electric scooter

My 16-year-old son had some mates round recently. One brought an electric scooter with him. Now, I'm fully aware that they cannot be used legally in public and, as a responsible adult, I don't want to look like I'm condoning its usage. So, I'm thinking of telling our lad to tell his mate that he can't bring it round and leave it on our property. However, part of me thinks I should just turn a blind eye. So, I put the question out to you. AIBU in asking for his mate not to bring the e-scooter round?

I don’t really understand these e-scooters they are apparently illegal to ride in public yet a 10 year old at my kids school rides on to school every day and the school even store it for him in the office, doesn’t even wear a helmet yet apparently it’s illegal. So in the case I think you are being over the top I don’t really think anyone cares if they are illegal.

Technically, as soon as he's on your property, he can ride it if you give permission. Its only illegal on public land.

I wouldn’t die on this hill. The ban hasn’t worked.

This week I saw a child aged no more than 10 riding one up a busy high street with no helmet, earbuds in and very pleased with himself. I cannot comprehend what his parents are thinking.

When there have been sufficient fatalities perhaps the law will become more robust.
