How do your posts/pics compare to your real life or if you don’t post, those of your family/friends?

My life is generally ok, live abroad, love my dc, but it’s not without problems, financial and health issues. I never post showy off things, only general life and lots of things we do are nice and the sunshine helps, but I don’t post financial or health issues, as I’m sure many don’t.
I was surprised when a friend from college came to stay and said all my posts made her so jealous, but then she came to stay and saw I was just living normal life, not sure if that’s an insult or not 😂
Makes me wonder about other people.
For context I post maybe once per month and occasional stories, so not excessive at all
or daily like many others.

We only post days out - mostly walking or cycling. The number of people who say "but you're so fit" just because we go for a walk or bike ride a couple of times a month makes me laugh!
They seem to forget that the other 28/29 days of the month we're just doing life!

I was much more ‘real’ then my husbands ex had been stalking me and making loads of issues so now I’m an ‘occasional’ poster. It’s a shame but whatever.

I don’t post pics sitting in the couch watching reruns of NCIS on 5usa while mumsnetting (current situation) so I guess my life on insta looks more interesting than the average Wednesday evening. Social media can be only posting things worth sharing and still be “real”.

I find it bizarre an adult can think someone’s social media gives an accurate depiction of their life and circumstances.
