Hi - posting for traffic. What can i do about this? Royal Mail have left the parcel in the bin, and no card so i didnt know it was there. The bins have now been taken. Do i go back to sender about this or is it a RM issue? How can i get my money back?

I do think that it must be really annoying for delivery drivers when people insist on getting items delivered knowing that they're not going to be home

I mean let's face it either be home or don't get items delivered when you're not going to be in

And if that's the case stop bloody complaining about it

Haha. So when one orders something one must enter a self imposed lockdown to receive the parcel from the hands of the delivery guy?
No pooing
No important zoom calls lest the doorbell ring.
Definitely no popping out to the shop or walk the dog.

I agree that in this age of online shopping people should try to designate or create a safe parcel space. Not many people have the space though.

Realdeal1 · 08/05/2024 21:56

I ended up with a replacement item! I don't mind them leaving stuff on the side but not in a bin. He photographed the item on the bin then promptly threw it into the bin! I have it on ring footage!

Until 2.5 years ago, my RM sorting office had reasonable opening hours - 2 days were to mid afternoon and 4 days (one of them Saturday) til 10am. Now its til 10am 6 days a week.

Don't think about the workers then!

Found a PO which is easy to get to and able to park as c20 bays in the car park in front of parade of shops.

Back in December, I had a parcel which was delivered by Evri (not a Christmas present) and on the delivery instructions, I put do not deliver to NoXX as I cannot stand that bitch who lives there and guess what, they delivered the parcel to the bitch. Anyway. I had to send screenshots of this request not to deliver to NoXX both to Evri and seller. Seller finally sent out a repeat package and sent it priority delivery - to Evri's cost.

Actually today I had an Evri parcel for myself and courier asked me whether I can take a parcel in for the bitch. No way! I said to him that she and her neighbour who share a communal front door (flats have own entrance) don't lock the front door as have seen it fully open when they leave. I said stick parcel in there.

notedbiscuits · 08/05/2024 22:31

Had something delivered by Evri and they slung it over the gate to the communal bike shed which is at the end of my property. As it was raining the parcel got ripped with it being thrown and therefore damaged the contents. Loads of photos of the damaged pack and contents sent to Evri and seller. Got a replacement.

And how should anyone know when to be at home? RM especially come at any time on any day, regardless of class of postage. Are you suggesting people should stay in indefinitely, foregoing work and food shopping, just in case a parcel is delivered at that moment??

This comment would make sense if people knew what day/time slot the item is likely to be delivered in, but funnily enough most people have to leave the house occasionally

penjil · 09/05/2024 01:22

Are you sure it was definitely RM and not a courier?

Because RM aren't allowed to 'doorstep' - - leave packets and parcels on a property...they have to be either taken back to the delivery office or left with a neighbour.

So, that's poor service and you need to raise it with the delivery office manager!

Flopsythebunny · 09/05/2024 01:33

If all you people complaining that they don't know when they're going to get a parcel bad any sense, all you need to do is download and register on the apps for the main delivery companies including royal mail. When they have a parcel that links to your address you'll get delivery updates

It's not always that simple. For example I've had it happen where one of my relatives had ordered me a Christmas present to be delivered directly to me, he got the confirmation of delivery but only saw it the morning of, I only had half an hour's notice of it and there wasn't going to be anyone home. And while I do try and change it if I can in the event of getting a notification when I'm not going to be in, some couriers do give that option but it's not that simple with Evri.

Yes but they are always in the handy window of anytime between 7am and 10pm. Updated the day it's due. So if you're at work what then?

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/05/2024 09:17

I inadvertently left my front door unlocked last week. I was home, but door is usually locked.

RM opened my front door & threw a parcel into my hall, slammed door. Parcel nearly hit me! RM didn't knock. I was ConfusedShock

No they aren't. Even royal mail give you a 2 hour time slot and they all allow you to change or divert your delivery right up to delivery . the only ones that don't give a time slot are amazon, but you can divert to a locker

TheOneWithUnagi · 09/05/2024 13:26

Evri give me a 2 hour time slot but I can't change it. I can't change or divert Royal Mail either. It doesn't necessarily help to know the time just to know I'm going to miss the delivery due to school run or work.

Edited

All I've ever had from RM is a message saying "your parcel will be delivered today by x time"

I do get a 2 hour slot on amazon although that changes throughout the day so might be 3-5pm. Then 3.40-5.40pm and so on.

Tell that to whoever left my parcel next to the bin bag this morning rather than knocking, annoying thing was I was actually home at the time and could have answered a knock!
