DH called me an arsehole

DS had an accident in the kitchen-poo everywhere. DH ended up (I have no idea how) with a massive 💩 on his foot (sock on)
He started screaming and I couldn’t help it, I started laughing. The situation was so ridiculous. He then lost his temper at me and shouted and called me an arsehole.

I posted the other day that he called me an “irritable shit” in a fight and have told him that name calling is unacceptable.

AIBU and was I in the wrong for laughing?

For context I have ADHD and can sometimes laugh at inappropriate moments.

I am suffering from severe PMDD right now and am extra sensitive.

I would have laughed until I cried - maybe I'm immature but things like that have always made me laugh-especially if the 'victim' starts getting really angry 🤔
What an really perplexed by though, OP, unless I've missed a bit of the story, is where the offending shite came from?!

If I got shit all over me and DH started laughing, I'd call him an arsehole too.

It was on his sock, not smeared all over him!

You both need to chill out. The man stepped in shit in his own kitchen; it's simultaneously funny and worthy of "How has my life come to this?".

Apologize and move on.

Yep

Coffeegincarbs · 06/05/2024 08:06

It's all in the tone he used (exasperated/accusatory) when he said it and whether your DC was in the room (presumably DC was not far away from the offending poo). I'd have laughed too, but have known to swear out loud when similar shitastic bare feet events have happened in our house!

No one mentions the child who will hear all of this and be distressed.
He called you irritable and a shit ? Would your best friend do this ?
How many more years of marriage do you envisage? 40?
I'd think carefully about setting a low bar for tolerating such verbal abuse from a person in your own home ...
