Ok so I don’t take the pill for one reason and another but we would usually use protection (all be it not that it happens often) anyway we had sex last night and didn’t use anything DH went old school and pulled out in time. But being usually very cautious in my thinking we’ve never relied on this in the past because I know that although not as likely you can still get pregnant this way.

my questions is AIBU to get the morning after pill? It’s been playing on my mind. We have a little one already and no intentions of another. I’m 38 DH 40. We are happy with what we have. What should I do!!!

I used it, had no side effects - except still getting pregnant!

So glad it isn’t just me 🤣🤣

Get your DH to get the snip. Saves all this hassle.

Is day 17 on a 28 day cycle too late / early for MAP to be effective? I've never quite understood why ds2 (aged 24) is here 😂

Do you mean you took the MAP but still got pregnant?

Spinningroundahelix · 05/05/2024 13:14

I have a day 21 baby - just saying.

This happened to a good friend too. She was extremely shocked that map wasn’t foolproof. The doctor wasn’t at all surprised and said it happens all the time.

Yes. Split condom, not in fertile time but thought I’d take the MAP anyway. Still got pregnant!

TheRoseWriter · 05/05/2024 13:33

Give your local chemist a quick ring and ask them the questions so you can get all the info you need. But I've taken it before, no side effects but the piece of mind was immense. Take a deep breath and allow yourself relax

TheRoseWriter · 05/05/2024 13:35

Yeah, if the sperms has already reached the egg, the MAP can do nothing. But always best to give it a try.

Crazygal2024 · 05/05/2024 14:23

So rang the chemist for some advice and practically said the same as you. It won’t really be effective on the day of my cycle tha I’m on. Unlikely to be pregnant but never know 🙈 I don’t bloody know what to do!!

I think you could have a coil fitted to prevent implantation (but difficult over a BH weekend)

I've taken it, didn't have any side effects. It was during a low fertility time but I didn't want to be pregnant and figured I'd rather waste 60 quid than go through a termination.

60 quid 🙀

There's not much you can do apart from take the MAP, hope for the best and get some reliable contraception lined up.

Jinglesomeoftheway · 05/05/2024 18:56

If it makes you feel better, I've used the pull out method for about 10 years without tracking cycles, and got pregnant three times straight away when actually trying, and never had an accident. For me, it's pretty effective

DontBiteTheCat · 05/05/2024 18:59

The MAP works by delaying ovulation, if you’ve already ovulated it won’t do anything.
