When I have a beauty treatment, haircut etc at a salon I always leave a tip as I assume that the cost of the treatment also pays for a lot of overheads and therefore the stylist/therapist only receives a fraction of the amount you pay. However, if you go to a beautician who works from home, or comes to your home, would you assume that the amount they charge is the amount they are happy to receive for their service, (having already factored in the cost of buying/supplying the products needed to carry out the treatment, and what it would cost them for petrol if mobile or electricity etc if working from home) and most likely also gives them a little profit per treatment, and therefore you don’t need to tip them?
YABU - always tip if you receive good service
YANBU - no need to tip if the majority of the price charged is going straight to beautician
