AIBU to wish that there was an alternative site to MN?

So often here I just despair and walk away. Currently there are a number of threads where OPs in awful circumstances get jumped on as though they are the problem. But then I forget to cancel notifications so still get emails about various threads. If I see a subject that I have some knowledge about I get dragged back in, in case I can be helpful. Every time I regret it, because the nastiness of a small but persistent number of posters is just so depressing.

Are there any similar sites to MN, but without the dreadful unpleasantness?

Netmums is less competitive and more open-minded. I think they're just more realistic and accepting.

I might check in with them. I like the forum chat of other women. This place has become quite brittle and judgemental over time.

Well since you can like posts in here I think things have got worse - posters trying to outdo each other for the laughs. Which is sometimes funny but also I don't think in the general spirit.

I am on holiday at the moment and even in a year standards have changed here - for the worse. So it's a worldwide issue not just mumsnet

i may have already had three Proseccos so pinch of salt me if you like (see what I do for
likes 😂)

You can’t like posts. Thanks is only visible to the poster so how could people be trying to outdo each other?

I really think MN is what you make it
look for the boards that reflect your interests
I sometimes look in gardening, people there are knowledgeable and helpful
same with chicken keepers (though that is very quiet)
style and beauty is often amusing
relationships- mostly supportive
Just ignore what you don't like

or don't use MN at all! its all optional :)

if the thread upsets you, hide the thread

Tattle. Surprisingly supportive (unless you are an influencer in which case give it a wide berth!)

PhuckyNell · 04/05/2024 10:12

@Dandel10n you need a code though which are like hens teeth

I’m the same as you OP. I’d love to find an alternative site.

Netmums maybe?
Or try FB groups with policies on no negativity.
Other than that I think you'll not find what you're looking for.
You could start one I suppose.
MN started with two women at the kitchen table and looks at it now.
It can be done because it has been done. 🤷 If you don't like what's out there then have a crack at making something you do like. If enough people feel the same way I'm sure they'll join you.
