Any DRs/nurses? Is this normal in anxiety?

Any nurses/doctors/healthcare professionals about? if so, how fast can someone’s pulse go if they are anxious? I had a high pulse which was picked up during obs (can’t remember specific numbers for my entire stay but I remember one day it was ranging between 130-170 each time they checked it for obs) some of the nurses said it was anxiety and others told me it was too high to be anxiety alone. And others said I should have gone to resus or something like that because it was so high to be monitored but then others said it was fine and just anxiety? I wasn’t actually feeling anxious at all although I probably was without realising it, just from the stress of being in hospital. I overheard them at ward round saying about how I had tachycardia but it was query anxiety but that they were not sure

for what it’s worth, I feel fine now, I’m just used to my heart beating quickly although 170 did feel particularly fast. and the care I received in hospital was exemplary

i just wondered though, if there are any doctors or nurses about, is that kind of heartbeat normal for anxiety? So mixed up now after everyone seemed to have a different opinion on it lol

220!! OMG. I thought 170 felt bad, you just have felt horrendous!

but I’m reassured that it was possible for it to go that high from anxiety. thank you!

I’m not medical (at all!) but: do you exercise? If so, when you do what does your pulse get to? Because when you’re anxious your body is trying to be ready to do intense exercise (run away!) and your heart will speed up to pump your blood round, ready to flee. Can you find some meditation videos online, watch them, then take your pulse?

Thanks for the advice, yeah I exercise a lot- usually 1-2 hours a day I would say. It goes very high and sometimes feels like it’s jumping but then it settles after I stop exercising (although is still high, just not as high as during exercise IYSWIM)
