A friend has asked me if I know if the pm facial cream & the anti ageing Eye cream with caffeine are any good?

one look at me would tell you either I haven't tried them or they're crap 🤣

but I thought I'd see if I could get any other opinions.

my AIBU is

inexpensive face & eye creams don't work. The damage is done

YABU - they are good

YANBU - they're all a pile of crap.

Cerave may not spend lots of money on supermodels, but they do seem to market it heavily to doctors. I’ve only tried it because I’ve had multiple bags of freebies from GP conferences. I like their body lotions, they seem to absorb quickly and don’t feel sticky.

I don’t believe any moisturisers are any better than Nivea though. I’ve never used anything else on my face. My skin is fine.

Sorry, I know this is a serious thread and hope you're getting some answers but I can't think of CeraVe now without this 'advert' coming to mind!

@milesmachine

How incredibly inappropriate in my friends moment of distress.

Just kidding, it gave me a laugh but OMG -what a creepy fucker, I haven't seen that before!🤮

Thanks for all your options so far!

@Poachedeggavocado

As I said, it's for my friend, not me. Personally I react to most products so I don't use anything.

my friend has puffy (not dark) bags under her eyes & I don't know how to describe the skin on her face (it's much like mine, so..). I'd say her skin is 'heavy/thick' quite deep wrinkles, not fine lines.

We'd both be the human equivalents of mastiffs!!

I'll have a proper read through when I get home later & discuss it with her

thank you.

Puffy under eyes might work best with cooling gel, guasha and a peptide oil. Nothing heavy or claggy. I'm guessing though as I'm only good at knowing what works for me!

I have dry sensitive skin and I couldn’t get rid of a dry patch on my face.

then started Cerave.

will never change to anything else. My skin gas changed for the better. I wish I’d known about it yrs ago.

For puffy eyes (I get chronic sinusitis and in the morning sometimes my eyes are like little slits) I use a tiny rollerball thingy from Revolution. It was about a fiver. I don't use any product with it. It's got a tiny steel ball in the end so it's really cooling and depuffing. I've bought one for loads of people as presents. 😂 It's the best little gadget ever.

I have a face roller and keep it in the fridge. Works wonderfully for my menopausal puffy face in the morning

I love the CeraVe smoothing cleanser facewash, Im prone to hormonal acne and it keeps it at bay. Works brilliantly for teen acne too. But the moisturisers do nothing for me, too heavy but dont seem to hydrate.

Mindyourfunkybusiness · 30/04/2024 22:57

I have cerave face moisturising cream - recommended by dermatologist. I bought cetaphil one too (can find the names) tbh my dermatologist gave me a list of cleansers, moisturisers and spf to use alongside my prescription. I buy and try and rate them.
I prefer cerave face cream to the la roche posay one (can find exact name maybe effacler "range"? I love the lrp effacler face wash though) and haven't tried the cetaphil one yet - when cerave runs out I will.
I feel like it's something you have to try and decide then. La roche posay is more expensive I think but moisturiser for example just wasn't for me. So I wouldn't factor in the cost. Just try and see what works.

clsaladqueen · 30/04/2024 23:02

I've tried a few CeraVe products but I've got to say Eucerin (the Urea range) is a much better moisturiser and a great ingredient. Makes my skin glow and great for dry skin

YouBelongWithMe · 30/04/2024 23:06

I was at the dermatologist yesterday and they asked me about moisturisers. I said I didn't really get on with what they'd prescribed but my favourite was La Roche Posay lipikar baume.

Both of them (both dermatologists in the room) said it was what they use, the best on the shelves but they're not allowed to recommend it because it can't be prescribed. They said they both have it home as their main moisturiser.

ShoveItUpYourArseMargaret · 30/04/2024 23:16

One of my DDs has extremely sensitive skin so we all use their hydrating cleanser as it’s just easier if we all use the same thing. I don’t think I’d buy it if it wasn’t for DD though. She also uses their moisturiser. I think I also tried their eye cream too which was pretty unremarkable.

I’d say it’s definitely good for sensitive skin and have always thought of the brand in that way rather than general skincare for the masses.
