We made an offer mid April.

We are first time buyers and seller is moving into a vacant property. Hoping it’s quick because of this! Thinking it will likely be August time?

How long did it take for you from having an offer accepted to moving in?

3 months with a chain of 3

As FTB offered in May and completed in July, no chain.

Buying and selling, house on market in February, first offer in March which fell through, second offer in April. Ended up completing in August after I put my foot down!!! So slow.

Accepted July 5th I think. Completed Jan 9th. Exchanged Dec 13th but was advised to wait out Christmas. Conveyancing solicitor was a rottweiler but a painstakingly thorough one.

I was a cash ftb buying a (vacant) flat with no onward chain as the vendor had moved in with her fiancé. Leasehold does take longer, I think. Completed early 2020 so thank god it wasn't any longer!!!

3 months with full survey - we were in rented and lady selling was downsizing, eager to move. Everyone was committed to make it happen - Estate agent chased any delays from either party, TBF it was the solicitors caseload that caused any delays as wasn't responding promptly to receiving information.

The actual conveyancing process was about 10 weeks. Our sellers had no chain and neither did our buyers. I also would call or email them weekly if I’d not had an update, casually reminding them how many weeks pregnant I was - we got in on week 37!

Offer accepted in April and completed end of September. No chain, so very simple. We got the land registry confirmation a couple of years later (early this year).

Ds and his girlfriend made the offer in November and have just completed!! It was dead for months and suddenly POW!

Justploddingonandon · 30/04/2024 20:28

9 months but we had quite a long chain and our buyers solicitor was rubbish. Unfortunately they were the only ones to make an offer on our old house in two months so putting it back on the market if they didn't pull there finger out wasn't an option.

We sold our house Jun 2022. Offered on onward purchase Aug 2022. Eventually completed Jan 2023. Very stressful as our buyer pulled out then vendor put house we’d offered on back on the market but luckily we found a new buyer the next day so re offered on house we wanted!
there was a conveyancing delay due to a mistake made on freehold on previous purchase by solicitor. I chased constantly. Glad we got there in the end. I did threaten to pull out due to delays and various parties dragging their feet

Viewed the property on Monday, moved in the following Thursday. 10 days, do I win? 😂

Sorry OP, I realise that’s not helpful for you.

DoorPath · 30/04/2024 21:08

3 months to the day. We were buying and selling at the same time, chain of three.

LisaD1 · 30/04/2024 21:40

15 days. We had already sold our house and were living in a friends property. The house we bought was an ex rental and empty so it was very easy.

dreading moving again, no plans yet, as so many of my friends have taken so long and I’m not the most patient.
