Jetwashing

We have someone here jetwashing - it's a company we use often.

The guy doing the work isn't wearing any protective eyewear - I'm concerned as we have some loose stones surrounding the edge of our patio and these could easily be dislodged with the jet and rebound towards his face/eyes.

Should I text the boss and mention my concern?

Or someone on here could message the boss? If only there were a more direct route of communicating......

PhuckyNell · 29/04/2024 09:13

Haha pp!

anyway I'd let them know about the loose bits and let them crack on

Jeezitneverends · 29/04/2024 09:14

If only adults could take responsibility for their own actions…

Either say something to the guy or let it be. I don't see why you should appoint yourself a Health and Safety officer. The company has policies and insurance and it is up to the worker if they chose to follow them or not. It's their eyes after all.

Make him a brew and a bacon sarnie instead.

Whilst I agree it's not my responsibility to self appoint as H&S officer for said company, and yes, we adults all have responsibility for ourselves, I genuinely would be distraught if he was harmed and I'd not said something.

He appears to be a young lad so might not have the confidence or experience to know about personal responsibility or H&S in his job yet?

Why would you do this and not speak to the guy himself ? How very odd. And I have loose stones and don’t wear safety goggles as I know how to angle it.

im sure he’s an adult. Speak to him. And I’m sure he knows what he’s doing. He isn’t a child.

You would be distraught if he harmed himself but clearly not enough to show him some care. Much easier to text the boss and let the lad get in trouble/fired/disciplined. That's not at all distressing, aha.
