To regret not thinking of my retirement/pension when I was younger

I am not sure I can continue working until I am 67. I regret not starting saving a bit earlier. Unfortunately private pensions in England didn’t became compulsory until about 10 years ago.

No even sure what I am posting this, just to let it out of my chest I guess. Just hope I have energy and health yo work pass 60.

How old are you OP?
It’s never too late to start saving. The most efficient way is to put more into your pension because you get tax relief on it.

Private pensions aren’t compulsory now - that’s workplace pensions. I think you mean “not state”. Not trying to be pedantic just to be an arse - you’ll get the wrong search results if you don’t look for the right terms to address your regret now.

So there’s a saying on pension forums - the best time to start a pension was 30 years ago, the second best time is now!

Are you paying into a workplace pension now?
Does your employer match any contributions greater than minimum?
Do you have any spare money you could save now in a personal (private) pension, and do you understand the tax relief around that?
