To ask has anyone used the cherry pick app?

I’ve just discovered it and it’s brilliant. I bloody hate food shopping and usually just wander round the supermarket throwing random shit into the trolley! We’re all sick to death of eating the same meals week after week. I tried Gousto when it was on offer but it’s too expensive to use regularly. Downloaded the cherry pick app. It’s a bit like Gousto etc. You pick your meals and it puts everything you need into a shopping list. At the moment it only has Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury’s. I picked Tesco but got most of what I needed in Aldi. Then on the app you go onto the recipe and it tells you step by step how to make the meal. There are loads of recipes on
there. I’m definitely going to carry on using it to save eating the same boring shite night after night.
long one sorry but hoping to inspire other people who hate shopping and get stuck for meal ideas.

Also if you choose Tesco it’s linked to their online shopping.

I blooming love it ! So easy I just use the list it creates at Tesco !

TheNeverEndingOver · 28/04/2024 18:39

And how long have you been working for them?

edgeware · 28/04/2024 18:41

I’ll look like I’m working for them too then but I also recently started using it and it’s very good; I’ve been recommending it a lot as well!

Flavabobble · 28/04/2024 18:45

How does it differ from looking up some recipes and making a list?
I've not tried gousto, but have used hello fresh. The beauty of it is not having to make a list, or go shopping. And having the exact amount for the recipe.

I don’t work for them. It’s just a brilliant app that makes my life such easier and stops is cooking the same bring stuff night after night. Thought it might help people in the same position. 😀
PS. I’m a boring dentaL nurse.

It’s just quicker and easier. Click on the recipe you like and it pops the ingredients into the shopping basket. Takes seconds. If you use Tesco it links to their online/ delivery system. I’ve just used it for the first time and it did cost a bit more for the spices etc but they’ll keep for other recipes. I found Gousto expensive for a family of 4.

I discovered it a couple of weeks ago from a post on here, and I love it too. Only thing I'd say is that I've done the first 5 or so recipes that I liked the look of, and nothing else was jumping out at me last time I looked.

I assume they will keep adding new ones though. They have just added online ordering for asda too.

That's what I'm wondering. Especially since you have to make a normal shopping list anyway for all the stuff that's not part of your recipe meals (snacks, fruit, packed lunch stuff, household items etc)

I just quickly make my meals list for the week (usually a mixture of old favourites, quick low-effort things and a new recipe idea or two ), make a shopping list, then go to Aldi.

I know but then I’d just sit eating biscuits adding random stuff to the virtual basket. Plus I take DM food shopping every Saturday so I may aswell do mine while I’m there.

Oooh have they? My sister will be pleased. She shops in Asda, I usually go to Aldi or Lidl.

The meal ideas is the main
reason I’m using it. I just get so stuck for ideas and we end up eating the same few meals over and over again. I’ve just made halloumi and spinach curry for myself and chorizo pasta bake for the meat eaters. Both lovely (so I’m told)

I have this app but struggling to see where I can add my own recipes to my 'Cookbook'. We have a selection of regulars, but they aren't set recipes from eg Good Food, they are our own versions and inventions and I'd like to put them in so that I can put them in the planner & shopping list. I was under the impression this was possible but I may be wrong...

notpastaagain · 11/05/2024 18:27

I feel like I could get paid for commission as I’ve been recommending this app to anyone that’ll listen!

I think it’s easier than just looking for recipes and making your own list because it’s all in one place. Also, the other user reviews of the recipes make it easy to see how meals can be adapted to suit different tastes. We’ve been using this for our family of five (with three young children) for the last 4-5 weeks and no one’s turned their nose up at any of the meals, which I was quite surprised about as we weren’t really that adventurous before. We’ve been spending between £100-£130 a week for all our shopping, including our toiletries etc. etc. and one of the best things is we don’t have any wasted food to throw out as it’s all being used up in the week.

RoseGoldEagle · 11/05/2024 18:32

I love the sound of this, have just downloaded the app, thanks OP!

I love it to. My teens have the app too, and they find recipes they like the look of and send ne the link - and then I can order the ingredients AND THEY COOK IT!

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 11/05/2024 21:45

I love it. I've been using it since it was called lollipop. I actually only signed up as a trial on MN, loved it and have been using it since. I think I'm one of the first 100 users. The shopping experience on Asda isn't as smooth as Sainsburys y yet, but I remember that being buggy in the early days.

It seems to be possible if you shop with Sainsbury, but not Asda.

AndSoFinally · 12/05/2024 11:19

Does it add up quantities for you? Eg if you add 2 recipes that each use garlic powder, or 4 eggs, does it just add one pot of garlic powder and a dozen eggs, knowing that this will cover both recipes, or will it add them twice?

It adds them once and tells you how many recipes the item is needed for.

Yes, you just uncheck the item

motherofawhirlwind · 12/05/2024 12:42

I've been using it for a few months and love it. It started with Sainsbury's so just watch the older recipes and how they translate to Tesco and Asda as it's not always 100% accurate i.e. a recipe needing boneless chicken thighs worked perfectly on Sainsbury's but went to the boned version on Asda.

Try the Fajita Rice, Middle Eastern Nachos and Chicken Shawrama Flatbreads (but I skip the tahini as too oily).
