Disneyland for a day?

Isthereanoffswitchforafiveyearold · 27/04/2024 16:15

Has anyone ever done it, is it possible?

I’d like to take Dd to Paris when she’s 6 (is that a good age, will she remember?) and go to Disneyland to visit. I don’t want to stay at Disneyland itself
How much do you end up spending and is it doable in a day?

Anyone done similar?

It’s VERY expensive for a day ticket. You probably wouldn’t get on much but could go on a few rides, watch the parades etc and soak up the atmosphere? I have been a few times but the last time I went with DS we stayed the night I the cheapest hotel (Santa Fe) and it was about 300 quid with 2 day park tickets included (this was feb so not peak time). Tickets alone were about £100 each so not much more for the hotel and it was worth it for the early entry

Kitkat1523 · 27/04/2024 16:19

No one day not enough ….if you are going then you need atleast2 days…..we’ve always done 3 nights and still left with that feeling that we could have stayed longer

KrisAkabusi · 27/04/2024 16:19

I've been to Disneyland 4 times but only stayed there once. Day trips are very doable.

Zanatdy · 27/04/2024 16:20

I once did an overnight coach and day trip and it was hell, so tiring, but staying nearby and a day drip yes you’d see a lot in one day

TipsyKoala · 27/04/2024 16:27

Personally I think a day trip is ideal, especially with a small child. My kids were exhausted after a day and I couldn’t imagine taking them back a second day, they would have been so tired and grumpy. It does make the per day rate more expensive though.

SmallFY · 27/04/2024 16:28

A day, including train to and from Paris isn't enough and would be exhausting.

We've done varying from 2 nights/ 3 days to 5 nights/6 days.

There's always more to see and do. On the longer trips we will spend a lot more times relaxing, going to Paris, local towns etc.

1 day for us would just be mega stressful and exhausting.

saoirse31 · 27/04/2024 16:32

Went for one day was absolutely fine! Get there early, leave late, great experience for a six year old!

fungipie · 27/04/2024 16:35

Just couldn't see the point at all- exhausting and won't have long there at all.

rainbowduplo · 27/04/2024 16:39

I've been once, for a day. Was awesome. Couldn't do everything, had my expectations managed on that scale, had a great time. We stayed overnight in Paris. Don't need to stay at the park.

Now I'm in my 30's and I can't imagine having the energy to do multiple days of theme park! Though seems to very much be the done thing.

Took both DDs at that age (separate trips) but neither remember much. Wished I'd waited until they were a bit older.
Stayed at Magic Circus Hotel with DD1 which had a shuttle bus.
Queues were reasonable given it was Summer.
Stayed at a cheap hotel near aquarium with DD2 then got train there.
Queues were dire inside the park, even in February.
Light Parades were awesome, as were the fireworks we saw.
Autograph books and grabbing characters around the park was fun.
Worth it for a day - yes, I only ever did day trips - but unless I was near Channel Tunnel anyway, not sure I could do it as a day trip from the UK. I've always done it in tandem with Paris trip following a day to do Eiffel Tower, Bateau Mouche, Bakers near the Arc de Triomphe etc and getting there by shuttle/local train.
If you did a weekend you could do Versailles/Paris sights/Eurodisney.

cheddercherry · 27/04/2024 16:45

You wouldn’t be able to do everything if you were planning on the parades and character meets alongside rides (if you’re inside term time would be better but if it’s school holidays the lines would make it hard to fit loads in). I’d say two days would be better and stay nearby (lots of non Disney hotels with shuttles) but the travel to/ from central Paris would be tiring for just a day.

GoldenOreosAreAnOkCustardCreamSubstitute · 27/04/2024 16:50

First time Magic Circus hotel was decent compromise with the shuttle after breakfast buffet - meant we weren't tired.
Second time we stayed in a hotel near SEA LIFE Paris Val d’Europe.
We did the aquarium the day before and picked up Disney merch from a shopping mall then went to Eurodisney the following day as it was only 5 minutes away.

Isthereanoffswitchforafiveyearold · 27/04/2024 20:42

The plan is to stay in a hotel in the centre of Paris and have a pick up from by the Eiffel Tower to Disney, I don’t think it’s that far?
We could always get a taxi back to the hotel if it gets late or is it too far/expensive?

I took my DD5 and DS6 to Disney World for 1 day! Of course we went Magic Kingdom and yes I pre planned a route and we did EVERYTHING in a day. It was epic - the whole surreal experience is talked about endlessly - we got there for the rope drop and left when it shut. Best day ever. I highly recommend.

Isthereanoffswitchforafiveyearold · 27/04/2024 21:06

@User1979289 Oh wow, sounds amazing! What time of year did you visit, did you stay nearby?
Also, quite random, but were the Teenage mutant ninja turtles there? 😂

We did it in a day when camping in France a few years ago. A day trip was awesome- the kids were 1, 6 and 8. A lot of the big rides we didn’t need as the children weren’t tall enough-so we didn’t need to worry about long queues! They still talk about that day and remember it well! Life is too short- do it!

Isthereanoffswitchforafiveyearold · 27/04/2024 21:14

@SparklingXmas How lovely

Turtles aren't Disney characters so you won't see them at any Disney parks.

User1979289 · 27/04/2024 22:08

We went to Disney World in Florida, I have been to Disneyland Paris but that was in 1998 😂Magic Kingdom Florisa opens at 8am so we arrived at 7.20 and got the monorail to the entrance so we waited about 20 mins after paying. We ran to the classic "Castle view" and got great photos then had a route planned which met both DC requirements. This was pre-covid and I understand it is harder to cram in as much now.

User1979289 · 27/04/2024 22:09

No turtles 😂We saw Spongebob at Universal and DD went berserk 😂

I thought you were going to Paris?
magic kingdom is in Florida

ClydeBank · 27/04/2024 22:18

Train takes u from gare du nord right to Disney. We stayed in Paris, did one day (early too late, staying for fireworks).

when my kids were little they preferred Disney land park - WD studios they just didn’t get (nor me). I’d stick to the former as it encapsulates the Disney magic where as the other one is better for teens IMO (someone will come along soon to disagree 😆)

Isthereanoffswitchforafiveyearold · 27/04/2024 22:20

@Kitkat1523 Yes, Paris, I have no idea what’s where tbh! Have one child and never been interested/known much about them, it’s only because of her now that I’m looking into it
