Here for the responses as my nearly two year just trashes the house when we stay home all day!!

Pet shop to look at the rabbits and fish.
Museum (lots have children’s play areas)
library
or, if you don’t want to leave the house… tea party
water play
indoor sand (oatmeal)
tv

We're finally enjoying some lovely warm sunshine here on the west coast of Scotland. But until now we've had an endless winter of cold and rain, and I'm sure the current sunshine will be short lived.

I have a 2 and a half year old and on rainy days these are our go to activities:

Playgroup
Swimming
Library
Museum
Play dates
Visit family
Train trip somewhere different and lunch in a café

I also chase the dry weather on the forecast and make sure we're out at the park if there's even just an hour's break in the rain. If it's cold and grey but at least dry, then it's wellies, waterproofs and off to feed the ducks and get a hot chocolate in a café.

Another way to fill a morning is to take a trip to the shop (ours has the tiny trolleys for kids to push) to buy different kinds of pasta. Fill a sand table/tuff tray with the pasta when you get home and give toddler various utensils from the kitchen to scoop and pour with. My son likes to use all his diggers and trucks.

My two are napping in the double pushchair after we've been to the library bounce and rhyme.

I'm trying to remember what I used to do when I had toddlers.
Ummm, go to my mum's because she had our very old (1960s) train set. And also, my kids considered grandparents to be very fun and cool, even if we just watched cartoons there instead of at home....
At home a bath maybe, a fun one with all the toys and bubbles. Or standing on a stool at the sink and some water play there?
Painting (potato printing doesn't ever seem to lose it's appeal)
We'd also invite friends round or go to friends so the kids amused each other while we had a coffee and a chat ( and refereed a bit)
Snuggle and watch a Disney film together ( we didn't have tv on as background normally so it was considered a treat)
Baby yoga on YouTube?
Stories.
Toddler 'helping' with cleaning? A soapy cloth to clean the kitchen and bathroom floor and cupboard front?
Sorting shapes - buttons, dried pasta, pennies from small change jar.
Playing basic catch( or rolling for tinies) with a ball.
Playing in a plastic washing basket - pretend boat/house.

Worth getting out of the house for a run around at some point during the day, so they are more amenable to sitting with TV or stories for a bit.
Nursery rhymes, cuddles, singing together?

We play in the garden or go for walks even if it’s raining. Inside we read books, draw, paint, complete sticker books or we go to the library, soft play or have play dates. Go swimming at the local pool, go to grandmas house, make cakes together (simple ones so hopefully the mess isn’t so bad)…

Indoor swimming pool.
Ball ponds.
Soft play.
Dress them up warm and go out on scooter if only drizzling with rain.
Library for storytime.
Make a tent with a blanket.
Tea party on the floor with teddies.
Go and visit my sister.
