Food wastage

My son who is 16, going to college 50 minutes away on the bus. Had been asking for food money which we did start doing. However we agreed that we would make same as what he bought, pasta and baguettes, chicken etc due to food shortages. He lost a few items of clothing he was looking for and his bedroom was a bomb site. He went out so I thought I’d check under the bed etc tidy up a bit. Lifted up his school bag and found all of last weeks food that I gave him in his bag . I only opened it as it was very heavy did not think it would be due to the glass jars full of vegetables, chicken and pasta and baguettes with cheese or chicken!!!!!

Where are there food shortages? So is he still having lunch money or not? If he's not having lunch money and not eating food you send in he must be going hungry at lunchtime. It's odd he doesn't eat the food if he likes it.

He is also not attending college as much as he should be. He has visual and auditory processing issues picked up by speech and language therapist in primary school. Covid hit do failed all gcse as no support or continuous repeat of what learned as that’s what he needs. Not smoking taking drugs do should be thankful but worried about him lying saying he has been to college, eaten food .

Dog walking after school we find everyone's discarded home made lunches! My Labrador loves it of course!

It's not 'fashionable' to take in food from home it seems!

Hi caregiver, he sometimes asks for money as still hungry but takes everything he usually eats at home!

Surely this is more of a rant than an AIBU?

I’d be annoyed at the wasted money and the general clatty-ness of leaving food to fester in a bag for the week, rather than ‘food shortages’. He needs to get his act together.

Maybe the glass jars are too heavy to carry - could he reuse takeaway containers? Or tin foil?
