Dh found these random handymen type lads to fix a hole in our roof. Only came across them as they helped him when he ran out of petrol.

Anyway, DH has negotiated a price. They want cash in hand because of being “burned in the past” with some shit excuse they gave.

i handed £500 in cash but then it dawned on me I don’t know these people from Adam. They want another £500 transferred via card. I communicated my concerns and have been given a “Rolex”.

what happens in these scenarios

I find the family dynamics exhausting and can’t always be bothered to explain

You managed to convey the true background in a couple of sentences FFS

Have a heart. The OP has a complicated family and that can get very wearing.

Was your message necessary, really? It isn't nice to kick people when they're down.

Was it your money or your DM's?

I think you need to find a way to stop being so involved in your DM's decisions. You can't stop her giving her own money away but you can stop being part of the process.

Sorry it is so difficult, sounds a nightmare Flowers

Technically it’s mums money. But siblings and I often have to pay bills. So it will hurt us too
