Leave job after 1 month (5weeks)

Hi,

I find this job dead boring. It’s not that the job is difficult, I just find it dead boring.
For context, this was a ‘promotion’ in the sense I applied for a team leader role.
I was very happy in my previous role and applied for the money tbh (which turned out not to be much anyway).
Overall I’m 5 weeks in and find it far too ‘adminy’.
I am also not too keen on the line manager. He is someone who is very nice ‘on face value’ but actually isn’t. This is what I’ve observed but because I’ve observed this I am very cautious around him. I can’t fight the feeling he is the type who wouldn’t have my back and very ‘me,myself and I’.
The problem is in this new role I work far too closely with him and again, I just find it so boring.
I have often been wondering whether I should step down, or even if I can last a year in this role 😵‍💫

Nope, life is too short & you spend too long at work so if you don't like it do something about it.
I changed role in January & knew almost immediately I'd fucked up so am currently applying elsewhere.

@FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren
i do have the same mentality. I spoke to a close colleague at work about this and they had told me to stick it out the year as otherwise it would be perceived as being ‘unable to handle the role’.

this annoyed me a little bit because I have been doing everything, I just find it too boring and too much admin. I just feel it’s not something I could ever come to enjoy even down the line.

I’d definitely step down in this case - if you’re not enjoying it, you have the added extra of feeling cautious around your line manager, and it’s not that much more pay (especially if your previous pay supports you enough) you don’t have much to lose and might as well go back to something you enjoy doing 😊

@hg167 definitely not much more pay. Counts as another grocery shop per month if anything ;p
It is something I am really considering. Do you think it would look bad to step down so soon within the same organisation?

Oh yeah, in that case I’d 10000% step down, sometimes it’s just not worth it is it haha!

I don’t think it would look bad at all, mainly depending on how you’d word it (I think if you were totally honest and told them you found it boring they might not like that and hold it against you in some way, like for future promotions) - without knowing exactly what you do, I’d probably go along the route of you’ve given it a go, however you don’t feel as though you’re working to your full potential in that role, you’re clearly good at your job to have been promoted in the first place, so no doubt they’ll be happy to have you back doing what you were before 😊

@hg167
Thank you. You’ve just given me a much needed boost of confidence
