2 x large boiled sweets in childrens party bags.

Maybe I am being over protective. I choked on a boiled sweet when I was 5, but I was really surprised to see these. Luckily I asked DS to show me the contents when he bought the bag home.

I choked on a Worthers Original a while back, I think they are a health hazard for everyone not just kids, but they are just sooooo nice!

I let my 5yrs old have the lollies on sticks which is about the same thing as a boiled sweet if it comes off the stick.

Not the sort of thing you get in a party bag though.

Cool - something for mum in the party bag

My husband teaches paediatric first aid to nurseries/childminders etc and he always tells them they should never let the children have boiled sweets or lollipops. He gets really annoyed when parents bring party bags to nursery for the kids to take especially when they have lollies/hard sweets. He also says that children should not be given grapes without them being cut in two as there have been a few instances of these being choked on, in fact you need to beware of anything that is small enough and hard enough to stick in a childs throat and cause choking - I am not by any means saying be paranoid, just sensible. I would have to say something about the partybags and if they said anything, then it would be a case of why would you want a child to suffer for the sake of a sweetie?

Just my opinion - smiles X

eat 'em yourself.

ALMummy · 01/04/2008 18:00

On a diet . My point is that he may have eaten them before I looked in the bag and I wouldnt have known. If he started choking I would not have known what it was. Not a sweet I would expect to find in party bags.

I choked aged five with a big orange sweet and I can still remember the taste of my Dads massive finger after he had hooked it out of my throat.

Not a good idea-I always hated it when mine were given lollipops as well. Just not worth the risk.

What about the food at the party? Children have been known to choke on food!
