Customer wearing extremely dirty disposable gloves

They were rife during the lockdowns. Fewer deaths wear them now when shopping - thank god! Medical and care staff change their gloves between patients and if the job is messy - change them more frequently. Whereas these gloves have been worn dozen of times over and then touched hundreds of items.

Saw a customer entering the store and from her handbag took out some filthy disposable gloves and put them on. Plus at least one knuckle had gone into a hole.

i bet if I did a swab test on these horrid gloves, there would be more nasties on them than over hands not washed for a couple of hours.

Why does she think that these gloves are acceptable? Even saw another customer pull a face over the horrible gloves.

Probably as unsanitary as a lot of hands!

Uncooperativefingers · 24/04/2024 15:56

They're nonsensical in terms of being hygienic, but I can't see them being any filthier than someone's hands surely?

stayathomer · 24/04/2024 15:57

I’d assume they’d need to be reminded if they’re doing it

theemmadilemma · 24/04/2024 16:00

No actual concept of hygiene.

So they touch the outside of the yukky gloves to put likely cleaner hands in side them, transferring the germs from outside and the 1'000's of previously touched packets to the inside anyway.

Yes, she'd be 1000% cleaner just washing her hands before and after shopping.

Lockdown measures triggered or exacerbated a lot of mental health/OCD issues which people are still struggling with now whilst the majority of us have gone back to normal. Yes the gloves are grim but she is clearly struggling with life.

GalileoHumpkins · 24/04/2024 16:13

Unless she was rubbing them on your face or trying to get you to lick them you'd be better off myob.

Mudflaps · 24/04/2024 16:14

I haven't seen anyone wear disposable gloves (outside of health professionals) since the height of covid so I'd think if I seen someone doing as the OP described that they had mental health issues.

I was at a chain restaurant and saw a member of kitchen staff come out of the disabled loo wearing blue gloves. We made eye contact before he scurried off to the kitchen. I so very nearly said something but I knew my dh would have insisted on leaving and then we'd have been wondering round london with two grumpy kids looking for somewhere for lunch.

I'd much prefer people just washed their hands! So many people wear them and hold their hand out for your hotel key or money etc - doesn't make sense.

There are people walking around outside wearing masks!

Fresh air is better than mask wearing.

Still a couple who think we are mad not to wear masks at work! I bet this couple only wore a mask a max of 3-4 hours a week! We wore masks in the mandatory days 3-4 hours on top of our working hours
