To not want a photo of me in front of the tv

Name changed as this could be outing. Last year, we went to my mum's to watch the coronation. At the very moment that the crown was being lowered onto the kings head, my mum asked me to sit in front of the TV so she could take a photo of me next to the TV image of the king. I said "no, I'd like to watch this bit". This made my mum unhappy and she sulked for the rest of the day. As it happens I had already agreed to have such a photo taken earlier in the ceremony, even though I was still in my pjs. A year later she brings this incident up in arguments as an example of me being difficult. In her view, it was selfish and rude of me to say no to a simple request and that anyone else would have posed without argument. Was I unreasonable?

This is the weirdest thing ever -- your mother wanted to take two different photographs of you in front of the TV during the coronation? Was it a proof of life photo for a ransom demand or something???

😄

The most bonkers thing about this is that it would have been and still is incredibly easy to do the shot that she wanted using an iplayer replay of the special moment

My whole family put on our best outfits and took a selfie while saluting when the crown was put on his head. Anything less is disrespectful.

My mum wanted me to dress in a wedding gown and stand in front of Megan Markle on the TV. The photo is still on her mantle.

Yanbu for not doing it as it's awkward when my husbands family come to visit my mum's. And our kids sometimes tell family friends about my first husband, Harry.

Oh my god! 😂

Well ...... if you said you would do it then backed out because you got distracted/interested in something else I can see the point she's making

But the fact you even agreed to it in the first place.....? Quite odd

Nopicsplease · 22/04/2024 17:58

@Jk8 I mean I let her take a photo of me in front of the TV earlier in the day. She wanted ANOTHER one at the moment of crowning and to that I said no.
