To ask if Barcelona is unsafe

I’m off to Barcelona with 13 friends (all women) 30-50s age. I haven’t been for a few years , but when I did we’ve never had any safety problems with muggings etc and I had a handbag , phone and money in there . Quite a few people are telling me it’s now rife for mugging- phones, Jewellery etc. Is this the case? I was planning on taking a shoulder cross over bag and putting my things in it but I’m worried now I might have to take an old phone and hide my cc down my bra 🤣 is it really this extreme?!

Went last year, was fine. Just keep personal space or be wary. I ate in las rambles more of an issue with food quality than price as any city centre is expensive. Wander outside the centre snd there are lots of well priced lovely restaurants. The markets were fab, nice glass of red for 3 euro. It’s a beautiful city, with the normal crime so just be aware and take normal precautions.

I think it may be worse as a lot of cruise boats dock there… snd they prey on drunk tourists and older people as the gangs know they can’t fight back, are less aware and can’t chase them… but that’s the Same the world over
