Please reassure me I won't get fired

I'm very anxious and maybe overthinking. A bit of reassurance would help.

I've just started a new job. Fairly senior and big pay rise. I'm having a crisis of confidence.

I had to finish early on Friday to take my child to the doctor's. After he went to bed, I cleared the remainder of my emails as I hate starting a Monday with emails from the previous week. I didn't realise until just now when I've opened my laptop to plan the week ahead, but I've somehow accidentally responded to an email with three people copied in with a single line I'd copied and pasted from an article about self confidence. I have a page on my one note where I record self helpy things and generally successes in work and have somehow copied this into an email rather than copying it to my OneNote page.

It looks like I'm completely mad and I'm really worried about tomorrow. Please tell me this isn't the worst thing in the world!

If you are using outlook, just recall the email now. It's very likely they haven't opened it yet, and you will if one of them has anyway.

Surely it's weird to recall cos they get a notification it's been recalled. Wouldn't that look more sus than just laughing off an email

If it's obvious it's about self confidence you're really going to have to brazen this out now to show you have it.

Honestly unless it could be taken personally or offensive in some way, no one will remotely care. Certainly 100% you won’t be fired for it!

I mean I think we’ve all sent an email that we regret. Either wrong recipient or haven’t checked the spelling or reply all or whatever!

I’d just send a quick reply now saying “oops sorry, copy and pasted that by accident, please ignore!” Or something similar. No one will probably even bring it up

OP, lots of people have asked why you think you might be fired for this mistake but you haven't answered?

Do you know anything about employment law?

From the OP it doesn't sound like she seriously does, she's just in a new job and cringing/ anxious.

It's fine. Do as others say, don't try to recall, just a breezy 'sorry, c&p error, I was writing something else and sent by accident' type of note. A very human mistake.

Remember, they don't know it was a note to self which is what is embarrassing you. You could have been writing a motivational message as part of your job. Even if they do guess, so what. We all need to build up our confidence somehow.

Meant, flippantly, of course. You definitely won't get fired 😊

Don't recall it. It makes it look worse. Definitely brazen it out. It's all good. I'd find it quite endearing if one of team did this to me.
