Once it’s “worked” do I keep taking it? It’s for post-op constipation. Do I assume if it triggers a bathroom event I’m fixed? Do I keep taking it? Anyone got any experience with this stuff. It is utterly vile!!!

You might be best to ring your pharmacy and ask. If they can't tell you, they'll know who can help.

I use it for DD, rather than myself, but we have always been told to continue with a maintenance dose for a few days following the initial explosion. Do you have the sachets? They taste better mixed in orange juice than water.

Pharmacy will offer quick and sound info for your circumstances though.

Post op or while taking painkillers i would take one a day (unless I got the opposite results)

I would stop when achieved results but start again if the problem recurred.

I add a soluble orange flavoured vitamin C to the mix and it’s much more palatable plus my orthopaedic surgeon recommended it for post op.

I add a soluble orange flavoured vitamin C to the mix I HAVE some of those, why didn't anyone tell me I could do that? 😫

My DD used this when she was about 6 years old. We kept using the sachets for as long as it was recommended. We had some in the house and continued taking the sachets when the constipation came back. It would calm down for a few weeks then she would become constipated again. That and a complete change in diet.

Sadly my DD is so traumatised by the episode where she was constipated which lasted a few months that she absolutely loves her vegetables and hasn’t been constipated since.

the doc should tell you. My child has long term constipation and needed a maintenance dose for a year to keep things going as her bowels were overstretched from prolonged constipation. I would think if it's surgery related only, it's a short term medicine only.

Thanks. My surgeon actually called today to check on me and I mentioned this. He said it’s a good idea, even once the bowels kick in again, to keep taking one or even half a sachet every day for a little while until you feel really regular again.

I chucked orange juice into it today and it was much easier to take.
