To hate having my sentences finished?

I met a woman today who did it.

’Does she sleep well?’ (About my baby DD)
I said ‘yes she’s not too bad, she generally just wakes -‘
’when she’s ill.’

(no I was going to say once a night)

’does she see her grandparents much, do they help?’
’not really, my parents are -‘
’not really into babies?’
(I was going to say dead!)

I realised my dad used to do it all the time and it gave me the rage!

I do have this done to me often but I’ve been told I give up halfway through sentences. I just assume the other person has got the point and can figure out the rest for themselves. I never realised I did it until somebody told me, then I really started noticing.

Example, the other day I was telling my colleague about how my favourite lunch spot had closed down and said “It’s such a shame, but these days places just can’t afford…” and I trailed off sort of expecting colleague to jump in, which she did. I didn’t realise I’d done it until afterwards when she, as expected, jumped in

I don’t have autism or anything, or at least I don’t have a diagnosis. But I’ve always been like this. Once I’ve made my point my brain just seems to switch off and doesn’t care about completing the sentence to the correct grammatical standard.

It only happens in casual conversation. In job interviews or debates I’m a lot more on the ball

I do this all the time. I try my hardest not too, I hear myself do it and get really annoyed with myself. I have ADHD and assume its connected to that. It's totally impulsive and I have no control over it. It's like my brain just wants people to spit it out and get on with it!
