Part timer anxiety after mat leave

Is it unreasonable to request 2 day work week after maternity leave? Worked Mon-Friday 9-5 before. My cover is staying and partner would be able to watch baby 2 days a week. Thinking of doing this to "ease" myself in and then potentially go up with the hours in 2 or 3 months. Also haven't used up any of my annual leave.

Can you use your annual leave for a 2 day week for a while. Disclaimer: I've always worked as a teacher so no idea how annual leave works.
Also just something to keep in mind. I went part time 6 years ago and haven't been able to get back to full time hours despite requesting it. Assumed it was a given.

I requested to go from full time to 2 days a week after mat leave. Best thing for our family. Been back on 2 days a week for 18 months now and I love it! Took a long time to adjust to the change but I really couldn’t imagine working full time now. Child goes to nursery 3 days a week so I get a day to do life admin, hobbies, naps etc! Go for it!!

I'd definitely use annual leave to work 2 or 3 days a week for a few weeks. That way you get a feel for it without changing your contract. Wait until you're back working before you request flexi.

Does your partner only work 3 days a week?

I did this after my last baby. I know in the long run it's the best thing for everyone involved but be prepared for the shock of it. I've been back two weeks and it's finding it really difficult to adjust. I hardly know what's going on and by the time I remember things the gap is so long it's taking ages to retain any info. I guess it will just take time.
