Natural ways to manage peri symptoms

Cloud44 · 11/04/2024 13:28

I think I may be experiencing the start of peri symptoms - lower energy levels, motivation and patience, lack of libido, some anxiety … I’m only early 40s, has anyone else experienced symptoms like this and found anything that helped - certain foods or exercise? I just want to try and get my zest for life back!

This has worked for me
perimenopause supplements from Amazon , high dose vitamin D,collagen, folic acid , magnesium.
exercise wise I added in more weights and reduced cardio a little.
stopped drinking almost all alcohol , reduced white carbs and sugar - all made me feel like death.
now feel like I’m in my 20 again 😃

I had the exact same symptoms as you and started taking a menopause supplement by a company called Hey Nutrition. It made a massive difference - I no longer feel like I have permanent PMT and my libido is back. Definitely helps with energy levels too.

I take collagen but probably won't bother to continue when my current lot run out. I find it overrated as far as supplements go.
My sisters take Equi London supplements and have never looked or felt better. They're not cheap though!
I've just ordered turmeric tablets for my achy joints and I'm excited about starting those.

Is there a reason you don't want to take HRT, it has other benefits in replacing lost oestrogen, so helps guard against osteoperosis, vaginal atrophy etc etc....

Cloud44 · 11/04/2024 13:45

I think I may just be in the early stages so don’t want to take HRT too soon? Also I’m on the combined pill - are supplements like Hey Nutrition and Equi London ok to take on those?

@Cloud44 probably best to check - I emailed Hey Nutrition with a question when I first started taking them and they were really quick at getting back to me.

Mel Robbins has covered a lot of women’s health advice in her podcasts. Might be worth a listen. I’ve been incorporating a lot of advice (around gut health, exercising with weight, sleep tips etc) and they’re making a difference.

She did one recently about hrt that’s worth a listen even if you don’t feel the time is right for you yet. https://www.melrobbins.com/podcasts/episode-157

Magnesium supplements (just from Tesco) have helped me, going to bed earlier and swimming - I find I'm much calmer with the kids and have a nice slow release of energy.

I still drink alcohol, as I love it rightly or wrongly - but do drink less as it definitely affects me more the next day now.
