To think this is infected?

Chickenpox. Granddaughter aged 7. She couldn't sleep last night.

It's the size of a 10p coin.

It's quite raised - it was the first spot.

It came on Sunday (was the same size as the rest of them) but has got bigger today.

She had three spots on Sunday morning. The rest came on Tuesday. Spots still appearing - non have burst/scabbed.

She's been crying Tuesday and today - very itchy. She's not got much of an appetite. She's been having calpol regularly.

They are in ears and on lower eyelids.

It feels like she has massive spots on her scalp but she won't let anyone investigate.

Her brother had chickenpox two weeks ago and you wouldn't know he had it. (Apart from the obvious spots.) They didn't itch/bother him and he wasn't unwell. He did not have calpol or any other remedy.

Sorry she’s so poorly, it’s miserable for kids that get a bad case. It doesn’t look infected to me. The scabs do vary in size. My DC was same, the first spots turned out to be the biggest and took the longest to heal, but she had loads of other smaller spots all over her body and face.

Try Virasoothe. Can't be used on eyes though. Worked wonders when DS had chickenpox.

Draw a line around the outer red portion and review where it is in the morning - if grown beyond the line then get your GP to review/should be able to telephone triage and send pictures in (ideally so you don't end up sat in GP waiting room!).
