Bedtime nappies

Posting here for traffic.
I am loosing my mind! Every single night our 23 month old wakes soaking. I’ve tried the specific night nappies by Pampers, tried having them on backwards as he’s a belly sleeper, tried every type of nappy on the shelves but nothing makes a difference.
Help! Suggestions on nappies others have found good at bedtime please??

At that age we had to do a dream change at around 10pm. It was a full nappy by then, but a fresh one worked until morning. We had the same problem otherwise.

You get the hang of doing it smoothly and quickly enough that they stay asleep.

Try the plus size nappy pants and also get him to do a wee on the potty just before he goes to sleep.

My 3yo is very wet in the mornings still, but she's in size 8 Aldi nappies and they don't seem to leak! (Although they didn't cope with the catastrophic diarrhoea explosion she had the other night - urgh 🤢). Although I suppose might be different for boys?

My boy is a little older and starting to have less wet nappies overnight now due to being potty trained and always having a wee right before bed but before that we had to double up nappies with him, so we’d put a 6+ on first (when 6 was his usual size) then a 7 pull up over the top, that’s the only thing that worked, otherwise he’d be waking up wet and upset. I always found Lidl nappies to be the best, but I think it depends on your child’s shape.

We had to double nappy at this age. We ended up moving to cloth. You could try a reusable nappy wrap over the disposable nappy. I use to like mother ease airflow of you can still get them

If you'd consider reusable nappies for overnight, so you'll only have one to wash each day, little lamb bamboo nappies together with a motherease airflow wrap are bombproof. My DS leaked every night with disposables but never with the bamboo nappy.

Do a dream change before you go to sleep yourself.

Have you adjusted his fluid intake - water/milk only in the day and not too much in the evening? And also look at diet - might be eating slightly high salt which is encouraging him to drink a lot?

have you started potty training? how is overall bladder control - can you get him to do a proper wee before bed?

Twitatwoo · 09/04/2024 20:20

Thanks all for suggestions. I’ve doubled up tonight! My fingers are crossed! If this doesn’t work I’ll try a new brand again and then maybe the outer part of the reusable on top?
We’ve bought a potty and he’s familiarising himself with it but hasn’t actually taken the plunge to do a wee yet, unless you count weeing next to it on the floor while running around after a bath 🙈he sat on it this morning and did a big squeeze 😂
He knows when he does a wee but doesn’t know when he needs one yet.

@OneAtATime he only drinks water and milk anyway, he’s tried the odd sip of my squash but he didn’t fussed and loves his water. He’s always been a thirsty boy tone fair to him, loves his water.
Also minimal salt in his diet, everything we make at home is from scratch so isn’t the salt intake, he’s literally just always been a thirsty boy. He’s quite a hot boy too so might just be thirsty because of his heat regulation.

I used to do a dream change but he’s become an awful sleeper and such a light sleeper since he was about 15 months, I’ll give it a go but my hands are always so cold 😂🙈

I did this but sort of the other way round. Size 8 pull up first, as thats what he would usually wear, then just cheap normal nappies, biggest size i could get - think Morrisons nutmeg 6+ - over the top.
Worked for my 3 year old, now doing it with my 2 year old.

Its only £5 odd for a big bag of those nappies so didn't mind using one of them a night, pack lasted for a month as only used when going to bed.

Also try to limit water a few hours before bed xx

Its a tough time xx
