Friend doing my head in

I have a friend staying this week. She us from the USA. She's fab, fun and fucking LOUD.

She's working whilst here, via zoom and I'm so tired of the fucking noise. She's so loud. Shouting, shrieking, etc. The cats are jumpy, I'm longing for some silence and now She's just told me she has a zoom meeting between 1am and 3am.

She's leaving Thursday and I'm so looking forward to the lack of noise.

Why are Americans so bloody loud??? She knows, she's making an effort to dial it back when she remembers but it's not very often that she remembers.

It's not an Aibu really, just an anonymous moan on an anonymous forum to stop myself from exploding. JFC.

I get the time lapse, but if she needs to do a call then, she can go outside to a 24hr McDonald's or just sit at a bus stop, lol. It's not acceptable to do calls in the middle of the night in others people's homes who are asleep. What a twat.

It's just a cultural difference! Italians loud extroverted culture, Colombians ditto, British introverted culture that values privacy and quietness. We are miserable moany fuckers though which is why the Aussies can't stand us.

I was going to say this. I’ve looked after children in America and they’re encouraged to be bold and assertive and precocious.

I’m not sure it’s a completely ‘positive trait’ though - there is something to be said for good ol’ British values of ‘quiet reserve’ and self effacing politeness occasionally.
