To ask when your first trimester symptoms eased?

Started at 5+5 for me and my symptoms have progressively got stronger! I’m now 7+4.

I have really strong food aversions to nearly all foods, feel queasy, constant hiccups and bone-tired, feels like wearing a lead jacket yet also being hungover! Drinking water is my biggest trigger at the moment 🤢 not actually been sick, but come very close to it.

Overjoyed and grateful to be pregnant but just wondered anecdotally when people noticed they felt like they had some more energy or felt less sicky?

About 3 days after the baby, when it was replaced with exhaustion that is ongoing 10years later....
Unfortunately I'm not really making it up. On the plus side, I was so sick during pregnancy I weighed less at the end that I did at the start and have never got back to being as big, except for my bosom!

mummatoI · 06/04/2024 15:55

I'm 15+4 and I found my sickness symptoms eased around the 13w mark! I felt practically exactly how you described and when I had my booking appointment and bloods with my midwife I had low iron stores and I was put on tablets which has majorly helped with tiredness! Also, water, have you tried flavored water? I couldn't stand tap water and it made me gag but trying flavored water I was able to drink it. I don't know if that would help you at all. Hope you start to feel better soon!

Like the pp my vomiting and nausea finished after birth , the fainting however continued resulting in me getting a head injury on the post natal ward when I fainted and bashed my head in a toilet .

Beginningless · 06/04/2024 15:57

For me it was about 14/15 weeks. I remember counting the days til 12 weeks thinking that would be it but it was a bit longer. Like you I was never sick but was nauseated a lot of the time. I found being hungry one of the biggest triggers so nibbled frequently.

WickWood · 06/04/2024 16:05

I'm in the 2nd trimester and unfortunately still being sick and feeling nauseous!

Workworkandmoreworknow · 06/04/2024 16:10

When I’d given birth. With my first, I remember being in the car and suddenly yelling OMG, I don’t feel sick. Baby burst into tears! Still makes me smile. Hope you feel better soon.

Putthekettleon73 · 06/04/2024 16:11

About 16/17 weeks. I vomited with all 3 of my pregnancies until then..ugh. The nausea and fatigue was intense! But,op, the two babies that I miscarried were both pregnancies where I didn't feel.sick so for me it was a sign of strong pregnancy.

I found citrus flavours helped, drink lots. And snacking on salty food. And fresh air/a walk to help distract you from the sickness.

I was low iron too but the tablets made me constipated which was grim. I recommend spatone- liquid iron.

The nausea stopped at around 12 weeks. My energy levels were low pretty much all of the way through.. think I had a few weeks around 20-24 weeks when I felt a bit more alive but didn’t last long. I did have low iron though.

Im 26+3
Nausea stopped around 13 weeks (and was replaced by constant gagging - though I've not actually been sick)
The fatigue never went and I'm more exhausted now than I've ever been in my life. Feel like I'm in a constant state of make believe or in a dream wondering when I'll wake :( it's horrible

whyismysoupcold · 06/04/2024 23:19

About 13w for my three pregnancies. It's rough! Hope yours ease soon.

Pickledf · 06/04/2024 23:21

I was lucky that I didn't get any of the bad pregnancy symptoms (wasn’t sick once!), but most in my birth month peanut group said they went by the end of the first trimester - hope that’s the same for you!

Cinai · 06/04/2024 23:23

I felt horrendous in week 5 and 6, even vomited in front of the midwife at my booking appointment. Miraculously it got much better by week 7 already…I think it’d impossible to tell because each pregnancy is so different, but I would speak to your GP and get medication if you’re really suffering with feeling sick. Other than that, try to rest as much as possible. It will pass!

Hemelbelle · 06/04/2024 23:26

Around 14 weeks and then felt well, with regards no more nausea, for remainder of pregnancies. Stopped feeling tired around same time, having normal energy levels during second trimester.

StolenCookie · 06/04/2024 23:27

Water was a trigger for me too. I found it disgusting! Had to flavour all my water. Like a previous poster I found citrus flavours the most tolerable. I’m sorry to say that my nausea didn’t go until 20 or so weeks. But after that I felt better and better. For me the 3rd trimester was the best one!

Sealover123 · 06/04/2024 23:27

Somewhere between 14-16 weeks, slowly eased off

Michscoll89 · 06/04/2024 23:28

I’m 22 weeks. The constant nausea started to ease about 16 weeks but was replaced with horrible acid reflux, so I’m still occasionally being sick.
