To hate the fashions for ruffles on everything?

So many times I've seen a dress I like in a shop, only to realise it has a big pelmet/frill where the hem should be. Plus, instead of sleeves being finished properly, they usually have a tacky elasticated frill.
It's probably just me, but it's so unappealing.

Seems obvious but you don’t have to buy those things. There are endless other options.

Where are you shopping? And what do you want to be wearing?

It's cheaper to make them with ruffles and frills because they can use offcuts rather than solid blocks of fabric. Same for this trend for bare midriff clothing and clothing without darts. At the risk of sounding old I would like to return to the days of clothes that fit women's figures and are cut and sewn accordingly.

I really don't like the sack cloth look that a lot of style and beauty posters seem to like either. Just make me clothes that fit!

I hate it too! And when they put gathered sleeves and necks.

JingsMahBucket · 05/04/2024 10:50

I hate it as well. I was saying to another friend a couple weeks ago that it’s like prairie norm core maximalism and it feels like an assault on feminism. Plus it’s just fucking ugly most of the time.

Prarie-core is exactly it! It's so ugly!

Obviously someone likes them! They enhance a plain dress if not overdone, imo.
