Trying to get tickets to Frozen at a decent price! Any tips!!! They are pricing most people out I’m sure! We still have to pay for travel to London!

Theatre has always been expensive.

I was looking at Starlight tickets for 4 of us and by the time you factor in travel and a meal you hitting £700.

Can you go to a mid week matinee?

DianaTaverner · 05/04/2024 10:29

Tickets are thirty quid upwards. I don't think that's unreasonable per person for a huge west end show, it's the fact that you're paying for four people at a time that makes it a hit to the wallet.

Mindymomo · 05/04/2024 10:31

There is a ticket booth in Leicester Square that sells returns for the day, can also be purchased on the website, T K T S London. These are often a lot cheaper.

I recently went to see Dorian Grey on my own and ticket was £150. We’ve done a few West End shows in other major cities eg recently done Wicked in Birmingham and seeing Hamilton. Yes they’re expensive but why is it more expensive to see the same show in London? We want decent seats. I don’t see Frozen touring. I’d rather travel to Leeds/Bradford/Birmingham/Oxford etc and use the saved money on a hotel and a trip away.

It's more expensive because hiring the theatre is more expensive in London. This is also a larger than average theatre. And London wages are higher than theatre wages outside London (as with lots of other jobs). Bear in mind that for a big musical like this you could easily have a cast of 30 and the same number of technicians or more. That's a fairly hefty wages bill.

It's closing so demand is high, previously it was easy to get lower priced tickets. There have always been lower priced tickets available in the west end for those who book early or book very late.

JollyHostess101 · 05/04/2024 12:29

Todays Tix normally have something reasonable and you don’t pay fees!!

They do rush tickets the morning of the show if you don’t need them in advance which are sometimes better seats cheaper price

ParrotPirouette · 05/04/2024 12:31

You need to balance your expectations, you say you want decent seats but you can only afford the cheaper ones up in the balcony 🤷‍♀️

LIZS · 05/04/2024 12:33

Try signing up to kidsweek which offers free tickets for kids with an adult in July and August. You need to book quickly when it opens in June.

How many of you are going? Frozen has always been one of the more reasonably priced shows for the West End. They used to do a family ticket but they seem to have finished due to the show closing soon.

We sat at the very back of the circle and it was a great view.

Not really. We got top tier tickets for Frozen via Magic Mondays for £25 each.

ChessieFL · 05/04/2024 12:53

The staging of shows in London is often better than when they go on tour which also adds to the costs. When a show is based in a London theatre for a long time they can build in specialised staging and effects which are often modified when the show goes on tour and is only in a particular theatre for a week or so. Don’t know if this applies to Frozen in particular, I’m just commenting in general about one reason why London tickets are more expensive than touring tickets.

In the West End matinees are no cheaper, unfortunately.

Justploddingonandon · 05/04/2024 13:32

If you can wait until the week to book then the magic Mondays link above is good. Evenings are easier to get than matinees and easier if not school holidays but I managed to get good stalls tickets for a Sunday matinee.
Saying that the view is fine from the balcony, just a bit distant.

OnGoldenPond · 05/04/2024 17:39

West End prices are nothing compared to Broadway! I was shocked at the prices when we visited New York, and we regularly go to shows in London as DD is a performer.

Like PP said, register for Kids Week, run by the Society of West End Theatres I think, plus check out last minute deals on discount sites. I've had some great deals in the past from Todaytix but you have to move fast.

LampShadeTaj · 05/04/2024 23:54

Thanks for the tips. It’s not affording it, I can afford it. It’s more I think it’s ridiculously priced!

It's currently on offer on TodayTix app

Tescovalu · 07/04/2024 04:06
