To get the absolute rage at the local leisure centre

Because their booking website is SO BAD? I like going to the leisure centre, it's nice, the staff are pleasant, the facilities are good. I try and book online because its more convenient. But their website is so God-awful!! You can't book more than one adult per session (eg swimming), not because they've got some rule that only one adult is allowed (there is no such rule) but simply because their website doesn't allow you to book more than one adult because it glitches and can't manage it!! I have to make a separate account with a different email just so I can book both myself, DH and DC in swimming 😤

End rant

Ours is the same, have a family membership but you have to sign everyone in to their own separate account with a complicated pin instead of a username just to book us all in to swimming, it drives me crazy!

Vallmo47 · 04/04/2024 20:48

Sounds annoying. Our booking app works reasonably well but the centre itself is filthy and I’ve had 3 bacterial infections this year from dirty pool water. So swings and roundabouts

Rantypanties · 04/04/2024 20:51

Let me guess….Better by any ironic chance!?!?

Kneeslikethese · 04/04/2024 20:56

Ours is the same can only book for 1 person online. I even tried booking in person when I was there, told no I must phone them. I literally had to phone the woman in front of me at the desk to ask to book 2 people on aqua aerobics 🤦‍♀️

BlackberrySky · 04/04/2024 20:58

I feel your pain, ours is the same. There is also no way to speak to anyone actually at the centre on the phone. The only number goes to head office and their stock answer is always to contact the centre directly via the app. It's infuriating!

Not Everyone Active by any chance?

Eugh. Ours is Everyone active and I've completely given up because it's so difficult

RainbowUnicornSparkleShit · 05/04/2024 09:48

I suppose it works to keep the queues down! There were always massive ones at our pool at the weekends, pre-COVID, but now you can only swim for an hour at a time and fewer people can be arsed to wrestle with the booking system than were willing to stand in a queue.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 05/04/2024 09:55

Yep ours is the same, DH and I both have memberships so just use our own apps to book individually, the ridiculous part is that as a swim club member DS swims for free, but on his account you can't book because he's under 16 and to book alongside DH or I we would have to pay for him when we shouldn't, leisure centre solution is to add him to one of our bookings as an under 3 🤷‍♀️ (he's not). No point calling because they never answer the phone.
I also had to use a different email for my membership because my usual email address was attached to DS' swim club membership, how dare I have a child in swimming lessons and also want to use the gym myself!
It's a lot lot cheaper than David Lloyd though.....

TimesChangeAgain · 05/04/2024 09:58

You can’t book the family swim sessions at ours, so I’ve never been because the queue is out of the door! Actually that’s part of why I’ve moved to a private gym - I refuse to get there 45 mins before the swim session to queue outside when I’m a member whose membership includes swimming! Now at a private gym there are prebookable family sessions I can take the kids to.

Also had the issue of not being able to use the same email address to book lessons for two separate children…

I get that councils are cash-strapped, but website that work are not necessarily more expensive than ones which don’t!

Fizbosshoes · 05/04/2024 10:01

Our council run leisure centre is similar. They had a facility that lots of people wanted to use but no one knew how to book and was not clear on the website. Non members were also allegedly allowed to use it but even members had no idea when/how to book....so they closed the facility because not enough people were using it because there was no clear way of booking🙄

Everyone Active’s site also doesn’t let you book carer tickets, which frankly is discriminatory. Why should families with disabled members either have to phone up during opening hours to get the tickets they are entitled to, turn up and hope there are still spaces or pay full price for a ticket that should be free, when everyone else can book online whenever they want? Their receptionist agreed it was bad well over a year ago and was sure it would change but it never has. Other places seem to manage to have carer tickets available online, but Everyone Active somehow can’t.

Was about to post the same. It always baffles me that there is NO option to book the free carer place.

Ours is exactly the same! Still using outdated covid rules as well like limiting the amount of people per swimming session to 20 even though it's a huge 25m pool, plus only get a 40 min session which you MUST prebook even though before Covid it was "general swimming 8am-2pm" and you could turn up anytime and stay as long as you like.
It is council run.

Ours is pretty much the same. Crap website, crap booking system and all COVID rules in place. I did actually ask at the front desk about the COVID rules as I thought they were probably outdated. The receptionist told me it's because of staffing issues, basically they lost lifeguards and other staff after COVID, never recruited to replace them and now there is a recruitment freeze in the council so they can't recruit. Hence they are having to limit numbers and times.

They also lost 3 swimming teachers so kids lessons are still restricted. The 3 best swimming teachers have all hired private pools and set themselves up or joined other private swim schools.
