If you wear a uniform for work do you wash it every day? Even when it's visibly clean and doesn't smell etc?

Yes I'm an HCA & wash my tunics & trousers each time I wear them.

Do you only have 1 set of uniform clothing?

id put it in the wash after every wear, but I wouldn't want to only have one set and have to actually wash it every day.

Yeah, im a nurse. Wash and iron 3 sets before my shifts

CarrotCake01 · 03/04/2024 19:23

Nope. If it was a super sweaty, manual labour job it would be different I suppose but a sniff test does fine for sitting at a desk for 5 hours.

I didn't realise people made a point of washing each thing after only 1 use!

Yes I wash my NHS uniform after every wear. I don't do that for my everyday clothes though.

I work with food and drink so I usually need a clean top every day but trousers I could wear over the whole 4 days but I tend to do 2 days and then swap.

I only have 3 tops so I do tend to try and get 2 wears out of it, it only gets dirty because I get coffee all over me so if I've had a quiet shift and it's visibly clean it's fine to rewear. It doesn't happen often though, even with an apron within 5 minutes of me arriving I throw something down me 🙄

I wear a clean top every day and my trousers I wear a couple of days, my jacket I wash on my days off so sometimes i wear it for 5 shifts and other times 2 or 3 . I work in a shop with a stockroom so it's really dusty and dirty but we work with a few smelly people who people moan about so it does make me paranoid I might smell too so definitely a clean top .

Carers/nurses etc should always wash before next shift

kaiadeluded · 03/04/2024 19:34

As NHS you should definitely always wear a clean uniform each shift - it's policy.
