Have you ever been? Is it good for families? Much to do? I know it's a fairly small island. I'm looking at it as it has a pretty short flight time and I have three small children who don't like to sit still for long.

If you can recommend any good hotels or areas I would really appreciate some tips.

We're going to Cala n forcat for the 4th time this year. It's lovely. Lots of family friendly restaurants, evening entertainment in the public Square (jimm hills) & very suited to young families. All restaurants have kids bouncy castles, playground etc. We absolutely love it & really recommend it.

RobbieisWright · 03/04/2024 18:37

Love Cala n forcat and arenal del castell. The latter has the best beach if your little ones prefer beach to the hotel pool but I love Cala n forcat

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 03/04/2024 18:39

Been to Cala n Forcat dozens of times. Which hotel are you thinking of? We have stayed at the Talayots loads of times which is a tui hotel rather than jet 2.

Really easy to catch a bus and go to Cuitadella or Cala n Bosc and plenty of places to go out at night. The aqua park is small but good fun and perfect for families.

I could go on for hours about the place.

We loved Menorca when the kids were small and also stayed at the Royal Son Bou. Liked the short transfer time from the airport too.

cutiepatootie23 · 03/04/2024 19:58

Is it a massively long transfer from the airport to Cala n Forcat? I just know after a flight with 3 kids they will be vile on a long transfer 😂

Royal Son Bou is totally booked even on their own website. There's one called Aguamarine in Arenel den Castell if anyone has any thoughts ok that? I'm so torn. This is why I'm terrible at booking holidays lol

Had a family villa in Binibeca for over 20 years - it is such a lovely island! My kids are now 10 & 7 and it is absolutely perfect for little ones. Binibeca/Punta Prima are very family friendly with beautiful beaches, lots to do and only 20 mins from the airport!

It's about 50 mins? Last drop off usually with TUI

Moonlight222 · 03/04/2024 20:06

@cutiepatootie23 it’s about 1.5 hours to cala n’ forcat it’s good for families all the restaurants are very family friendly, it’s very quiet. Binimar if booked via jet2 has water park access but it must say on booking, can easily get bus to citudella when market is on.

i love menorca

Not stayed there but it's right on beach and looks popular with families

StarbucksQueen1 · 03/04/2024 20:09

Took our son for his first holiday last year and he loved it.. he’s 5. Stayed here https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g658911-d1873422-Reviews-Carema_Beach_Menorca-Cala_n_Bosch_Menorca_Balearic_Islands.html

Hired a car as island small so can get to most places. Went to two water parks and a zoo and loved ciutadella too.

Definitely recommend it!

We stayed here in Arsenal de'n Castell as my DPs were with the timeshare company that own it. The little bay is so quiet, it's a small town and would be boring for teens but great for little ones. Less than half an hour transfer, we hired a car, the roads are not busy.

Great to see people recommending Royal Son Bou, we're booked for our first holiday abroad with kids for this summer!

bobbycock79 · 04/04/2024 10:17

Aguamarine hotel is where we stayed. It was great for us with 3 young kids, loads of other families , it's definitely no frills and rooms were clean and basic . Main selling point was being right on that lovely beach and sea view rooms are beautiful (definitely worth selecting that option) . feel free to message me if you want to know anymore :)

@cutiepatootie23

Hi 👋
I have got real lovely memories of staying in Menorca way back in the 80s as a child staying in all inclusive
with my family who adopted..

Thank you for doing this mumsnet thread post

TheFairyCaravan · 04/04/2024 10:29

Menorca is fantastic for families. Nowhere is a long transfer because the island is only 40 miles long. If you're looking at the Binimqr apartments it used to be that you had to book with TUI to use the kids club.

I'd book a private transfer, there's loads available, it reduces the transfer time by half.

This is great to know thank you.

Can I ask did the rooms have a separate bedroom to the living area? Just thinking of bed times and wondering if we will all have to go to bed at the same time 😂

And is there much in the area like shops/arcades things for primary age kids too?

Really appreciate this.

No , unfortunately just rooms with the beds. We sat on balcony with wine once kids were asleep. Although they adjusted to Spanish bedtimes and didnt go down til 10ish and we were so tired we weren’t far behind! There wasn’t
much in the way of shops or anything else in Arenal but the hotel amenities were great for kids and kept them entertained.

ghostyslovesheets · 04/04/2024 22:35

I loved it when the kids where small - went 3 times post divorce - kids between the ages of 2,4,6 and 6,8,10

We stayed at The Holiday Village which is no longer there - one bed apt with sofa bed - it was bliss - AI with kids clubs which as a single parent was amazing. (they did 1.5 hours a day in the club before people flame me), entertainment, high ropes, short walk to the beach and marina and the older kids could walk to the little shop to buy tat with their euros. I loved it - we did Eurocamp in France when they got older

Sagittarius · 04/04/2024 22:38

Proture Bonaire Aparthotel in Cala Bona, it is a fabulous hotel for young families

Sagittarius · 04/04/2024 22:41

Sorry just realised it was Menora and not Majorca you was asking about, the one I mentioned is Majorica. Both are geared up for families though with short flight times and generally short transfers

ghostyslovesheets · 04/04/2024 22:45

This is it now - TUI BLUE Grupotel Turquesa Mar in Cala'n Bosch | TUI.co.uk
